Lode Runner On-Line: The Mad Monks' Revenge Seriously, great game, and one that still looks pretty good even years later.

Lots of old games with bitmap graphics still look pretty good today. Bitmap graphics don't age the way 3D graphics do.

Just now getting around to the original Metal Gear Solid. WOW! That game does a lot with graphics that are about on par with Quake 1.

The original Ocarina of Time never ages for me.
That said, OMG OMG OMG the 3DS version.

The genre has something to do with it. For some reason RTS games don't seem to age as well as platformers do, I'm not sure if that has anything to do with RTS games being more tied to the number of pixels on screen than actual graphical quality.

I agree about bitmap art: even some games from the 80's got some pretty great art, especially on loading screens and so on.
Here's a load screen from a game called Game Over.
And come to think about it, I also agree about 3D grpahics. First Quake has aged pretty horribly as is the first Unreal. I think No one Lives Forever is one the oldest 3D games I still consider good looking even today.

Not long ago I tried out a LOT of old different Amiga games, many of them completely unknown and obscure to me. One of them really stood out in terms of art direction. It was a game called Blade Warrior, and the art style is incredibly nice!

Yeah, I'm currently playing the 3DS one. Me raving about how good it is inspired my dad to have a go on the original (well, it was the Zelda Collectors Edition version actually). I was shocked by how well it had aged.

I'm one of those Nintendo fans who claims it's the greatest game of all time. I truly believe that very few games have been as well designed.
Anywhoo, man... what if they put Majora's Mask on the 3DS? That would be amaaazing. That game actually had really lush graphics for the N64, it would look awesome in 3DS mode.

I'd go with a title from this very site, Outcast.
I was amazed with the voxel graphics when it first came out, and I still find it beautiful in its own way.
