I am one of those people that disagrees with this. I know many people think, fighting with a childish person, makes you childish too but I believe people should always take a stand when someone is attacking you. In my eyes, ignoring a childish person isn't being mature, it is being a push over. When you give someone an inch, they will take a mile. If you go up to a 1%er biker for example and insult him, he will either beat you to death or shoot you in the face. There is a reason. It is because being a push over is a bad thing. Out of nowhere, in this thread, Azdeth started being very disrespectful towards me. I responded and continue to respond.

One of the underlying problems with all this, the issue of women in games and the like, is due to lack of opportunity. It's not just that there are a ton of negative images of women in games. More importantly, there's a lack of heroic roles for women to play. People can put up with a lot of negative out there if they have positive they can focus on and enjoy. When there's little to no positive, the negative becomes much more glaring.

If we all had plenty of games where straight/ bi/ gay men and straight/ bi/ gay women could ALL play the heroic lead, could save the day, could get the high score, and could have the hot sexy love interest of our choice, we'd all be a lot happier. I don't care who other gamers fuck in games, so long as I get someone for me to fuck. When everybody else is happily fucking others in game after game after game and I'm getting jack shit, I'm gonna be an angry panda.

No no, I'm not trolling at the moment. It was an honest question, since what you said seemed to be at odds with what I've seen. I'm not picking fights either, it's just how you perceive it. If you want to, you can make your case and show me where I started being really disrespectful to you. If you really want to, I can make my case and explain what I think is wrong with your post, but I'll only do that if you ask because I don't think you'd even consider that you're doing something wrong.

I've heard love for DA1 and hate for DA2, Story and plot are crucial to me for game enjoyment, yet the vids of the game seemed... consolish. Consoles make me think a game isn't very deep story-wise.

Not really.
If a child goes to a biker and tells him "You're ugly", the biker will ignore the insult.
If his old lady goes to him and calls him a lazy ass, he will again back down.
If another member's old lady yells at him, he will again take the abuse and back down.

The point of responding to someone is that you perceive him a threat. A childish person isn't a threat, thus you ignore him. Same as the bouncer of a club will ignore the skinny whiny teen who talks thrash at him. So by responding aggressively to a childish person, you show that you perceive that person as a threat.

The first , even though it is multiplatform , it is a 100% CRPG due to the UI and taactical gameplay (D&D, BG , NWN , SW KOTOR style) , but the second was consolized. I haven't played the second one yet , but from what I heard , the story isn't really bad , it's just nothing like the first. This time the story revolves around a single character and his journey instead of being a story about an entire country.
