Only on GOG, a new game release can bring so many memories from back in the days. So who remembers the times of Pentium MMX?

POD Gold also known as Planet of Death is a futuristic racer with a plot. The game takes place in the future on a planet called Io. A mining accident unleashes a deadly virus which threatens the whole planet population. After a massive exodus from the planet, only one seat in the very last rescue spaceship remains. This seat will be taken by the winner of a dangerous race in which you're taking part. Maybe it's not an Oscar winning script but come on, it's a racer :) In POD it's all about speed - you drive one of 16 turbocharged machines through 32 tracks in full 3D environment, fighting for the top spot. When released, POD was the first game making use of the Pentium MMX technology, and later on, one of the titles with 3D acceleration. Based on this POD was often used as an example of what the computers in the late 90's could do. Today you can check the "hi-end technology of the 90's" and have fun while blasting 300 mph through the futuristic tracks for only $5.99.
interesting game will wishlist for now.
I think I remember this game, mostly for the MMX thingy. Can't recall playing it though.
This brings back memories. Haven't heard of this game in ages. Looks... rougher than I remembered. Oh well, I did spend a lot of time on this though.

I cant believe this is finally here! Very awesome racing game, I recommend it to everyone *Wishlisted* :D
Heh, cool! I remember this one! It was bundled with a processor or graphics card we bought (i think it was an MMX processor, because of the game's description here about it being one of the first MMX games). Really liked it and played it for hours with my brother.

Will not buy it right now though, cause i'm still into FlatOut 2 and graphics seem a bit too outdated for me atm (for a racing game)... ;)
I've pretty much jizzed.
Oh yeah heard about this before. I recall it came out about the same time as games like Hi-Octane and Wipeout, and was therefore overshadowed. Don't know if it's any good though, but I'm a sucker for fast racers.
Not really my cup of tea, but I'm sure a lot of people will find this interesting. It kinda reminds me of Re-Volt.
You are right that script wouldn't win an oscar, then again some oscar winning films are pretty poor.

That said still not my kind of game. I shall go to bed and catch up on some much needed sleep my average of 3.5 hours sleep a night this week is starting to take its toll.
Re-Volt, yes. I also remember a game called Rollcage. Man, did I spend a ton of time with that game!

Maybe we need a resident GOG racing game fan to list the best racing games on the site. I wonder how this new one would rate? I've never played it so will be keeping an eye on the comments.
I do believe that I have heard of this game somewhere previously

It looks pretty cool, certainly one unexpected release
