It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Weclock: I'd probably still buy from steam, because I like not only the steam friends, but achievements, server browser, etc..
You can add a non steam game to steam as a shortcut and you will get all the extras of steam community (server browser, friends list etc.).

RageBoy: 10/10 for GOG, 4/10 for Desikratis (for a nice try ;) )

@Oldski;
Thanks for the candid reply.
My concern arose from my view of the site and the impression I had received when the first titles you launched with were relatively old ones that required assistance-programs to run.
I don't have a problem with having these newer titles on the site - not at all. I was just misguided in my view of the purpose of the site. My only concern is the community it will/has attract(ed). I know that's not really something you guys can control but I hope (really hope) this site doesn't just turn into another Steam/D2D-esque site. It's nice having somewhere reliable to get obscure/old/problematic (which come with the fixes, of course!) games.
I think you guys have done a grand job so far and just hope you don't relegate the aforementioned types of games to the back burner.

Thanks for your feedback and for explaining your opinion :)
We are trying to focus on older games as was and is, the idea of this site/service.
More of those "good old games" coming soon! ;)
so far i always considered playing this jewel with eponym song from judas priest right in my ears...
I like good oldfashionned FPS with hordes of creatures rushing at me :)
Painkiller always had been a GOOD game, even if now it became OLD enough to be on GOG; despite it's age it keeps being good nonetheless...

I'm conflicted myself..I want something like Steam but without the client and without the DRM...maybe if GOG gets successful enough you can start a Good New Games. ;)

hansschmucker: Feel free to do that... for me GoG has beaten Steam entirely (I got two or three exclusive titles from there, but I don't even have it installed anymore) because it's actually lacking these features. I don't like having an application for everything. Hell, I don't even like having an installer (I'd prefer a ZIP file), just me and the data that I can move around between my various OS without worrying about anything. But different people have different preferences...

I believe 7-zip extracts anything, and its available on many OS's, check it out. ;)
exes are just another form of compact archive after all.

Depends... and it's apparently not true for the GoG installer. Here's the trick why many installers can be handled like ZIP files: The installer part is always located at the beginning of the file. It has a given size and whatever is stored beyond that size is simply silently ignored. Most archive formats on the other hand have their header at the end of the file, which also includes the size of the archive. So, the ZIP program will read the end and jump back to the beginning of the ZIP file, while Windows will read the EXE part and ignore the rest.
But that only works if the installer is compiled like this. If the ZIP file (or maybe it's even using another compression or maybe just a different header format) is not at the end of the file, but embedded into the installer, it won't work.

7-Zip only supports certain installer formats; GOG's is not one of them. :(

*smile* that's what I was trying to say. You definitely said it a lot shorter and a lot more understandable.
well then maybe what we should be asking is for gog to make their exes "openable" by programs like that, making it easier for us to use it in different OS.(like linux myself)
that way a whole 'nother space taking file isn't necessary and both parties get what they wanted.
cheers

i think I'd prefer a separate download if they were to do something like that.

frostcircus: Overdose is terrible.

Indeed. I bought Painkiller a while back after Yahtzee did his review. While the first Painkiller is simply AWESOME, the expansions are just.. no good. I don't know if it was handled by a different team or something, but it just lacks a lot of the same charm and good level design. But the first game will last you quite a long while and is more than worth the price alone.

Overdose was actually a third party mod that the developer decided to publish.
What about Battle Out of Hell?

FatalKitsune: What about Battle Out of Hell?
that was made by the original developers
edit:
any GOG staff want to elaborate as to why this copy of black doesn't have the interviews while the retail copy does?
