This game is only 4 years old. Why is it on good OLD games? Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't this a site where you can pick up old games that are hard to find/get working and buy them (with additional customer support - thanks GOG)?
Personally I don't think this should be here and it's going to attract people to the community who are going to bitch and moan about how there aren't enough "games with good graphics" or "[x (game)] isn't here! It should be! It came out last year!" promoting the change from the current site into just another Steam or Direct2Drive site. I think that's counter-intuitive to the whole purpose of this site, is it not?
And yes, I see the irony of me bitching about how there should only be old games while denouncing people from doing almost the polar opposite.
And perhaps I'm seeing the title of the site wrong. Maybe something that is 4 years old IS old in the site owners eyes. If so, all power to ya. I just figured the site was to enable people to get those games that were no longer in publication and couldn't work without the assistance of programs like DOSbox etc. [edit: Obviously I'm not referring to ALL old games that require things like this, but it's an example]
*shrug*
Just my two cents.

The game is actually 5 years old. The Black Edition was released less than 4 years ago, but the game itself actually came out (more than) a year before that (April 2004). It's not even the newest game on the site already, that "honor" belongs to Darkstar One (released June 2006).
How old does a game have to be before you consider "old enough" to belong on GOG? Where does it say that the site will only have out of print/hard to find games? As far as I can tell, the only thing GOG has promised are good games (yep, Painkiller meets that) and old games (in my book, 5 years old is old). Painkiller is a game that is really no longer supported by the publisher, so they certainly consider it old, plus it can't really be found on store shelves anymore (at least in my area), so it certainly seems to be out of publication to me.
Also, you seem to be missing one of the other selling points/purposes of this site: DRM free. It certainly doesn't matter to everyone, but to many of us, we would much rather be able to buy a game like this in a DRM free version than to have to deal with things like Steam.
'tis all relative anyway

Sorry for the incoming TLDR..
@Desikratis (and probably everyone else :)) - we understand what you feel and we're there too :) We also like to have a mixture and believe you me, it's not easy finding owners of the rights of older games, some of our searches have taken weeks only to find that we're stuck at some lawyer who won't say anything because he's signed a non-disclosure agreement and will contact the licence holder at his discretion.. *sigh*
Deals like this one with JoWood are really good for us, apart from giving us some fantastic titles which appeal to some more than others (granted) but also the visibility and also give us time to continue our search for older titles.
Saying that, we sometimes take what we can get (within reason of course) but you want old, we want old but sometimes we won't get old, we'll just get good games. And DRM-free of course :)
So we take some newer titles which hopefully in time, we'll lead us to the old archive of various developers and publishers.. where those gems are hidden in the deepest dungeon :)
We also get to vent some of that frustration playing a great title like Painkiller :)
They say that the pen is mightier than the sword, but that stake gun is really tempting :))
We've got a few older titles coming soon ;)) but you'll have to wait for the announcements (and the games when they're ready.. it's that compatibility thing again :)) Looking at Deus and Robinson's Requiem, I can tell you we had that those two with our programmers and test teams for weeks until we had a version we were happy with. So patience please and hopefully we'll release something really old soon and hopefully they will appeal to you too :))
So for now, whilst your waiting, maybe a stake gun sir? :)

Nice, Painkiller was really fun, though it lacked the charm of Serious Sam
I'm surprised though, considering PK isn't really that old

That's good news, you understand what many people wish. Very old games, working on new systems without any problem. If you achieve this, your releases will be very rare and you will be belauded to the skies.

Well... WHAT!?
Painkiller was a tournament game, Painkiller is a classic - so what its only 5 years old? Perimeter is 5 years old, DarkStar One is only 4 and they both are here. Is it bad that GOG has also some "newer" games (and what is 'newer'? Some games are 'old' in the moment of that release - look at Mount and Blade).
I remember me playing PK few years ago and nostalgia when I run this game this morning. It is awsome, I have some good memories of that game and for me its both GOOD and OLD. It belongs here next to Jagged Alliance and Perimeter - it is hard to get this days, its awsome and it has that old-school feel.
10/10 for GOG, 4/10 for Desikratis (for a nice try ;) )
Very nice. Thanks again GOG.com :-)
Unfortunately, I already have this game on Steam :-(
I don't understand why anyone complains about games being added to GOG. If you don't want it, don't buy it.

Because they dont take it as a simple shop, but as a project with community they are part of.
But I understand you.
A 5-year-old game is really old by video game standards, but maybe some people are confused because it has aged well. Anyway, criticizing great releases just because they aren't old enough is not a very mature response. I'd rather have "good" over "old" any day.
I agree with Desikratis, and a lot of people think like that too, i imagine.
But even if i prefer really older games (come on System shock! ), we are on gog.com, not dog.com (dos only games).
And for people who started gaming this year, it IS an old game!
So for us, older gamers, we just have to be patient...
So Desikratis 8/10 (nice try!) and GOG 20/10 ( for the long and wise answer who will appease everybody)

In that regard I wouldn't even mind if they added completely NEW games to the mix - this is a shop at first, not a nostalgia forum.
Anyway, I know I'll celebrate the day gog gets the rights to Origin games ;D

Amen. If GOG sold brand new releases in the same DRM-free packaging, I wouldn't buy PC games anywhere else. Not even Steam could compete with that.
Current publishers being what they are, however, that isn't likely to happen. They're having too much fun selling (see: renting) games that lock down after two installs.

Same here! I will be playing the hell out of the 2 Crusader titles...and System Shock and Ultima Underworld and and and .......OMG! I might never see the light of day .......
I'd probably still buy from steam, because I like not only the steam friends, but achievements, server browser, etc..
