After releasing the first three installments of this acclaimed series, it was only natural to add Heroes of Might and Magic 4 to the lineup. We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we did!

You probably know this already, but [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/heroes_of_might_and_magic_4_complete]Heroes of Might and Magic 4 is a casual, fantasy-themed turn-based strategy, in which you explore a magical land and lead hordes of mythical creatures against the enemies of your realm. The Complete edition includes the original game and its two expansions: The Gathering Storm and Winds of War, giving you countless hour of gameplay to look forward to.
The fourth installment of the series remains the fabulous fairy-tale design and beautiful 2D graphics, but also was somewhat innovative, as it added many new features to the well-established gameplay of its predecessors, most notably letting the Heroes participate in battles. Get your copy today and find out how the gameplay evolved.

I'm not the great fan of 4th part of HoMM but, still, it is a great release, and nice addition to GOG's catalogue.

But do not forget about:

SLP2000: Oh, and I forgot - Ubisoft (and GOG) - give us Heroes Chronicles Complete (with two free expansions that are not available to buy anywhere)!
THIS PLEASE!!!!11111

Roman5: I suppose the game got such a negative response for being so different

many people didn't like it, but I found a lot of neat things about it
I thought that's what i wrote.;P
Anyhow, i'd have to say, it was a welcome change, though i am yet to accept it, as i've never really got into IV. HoMM 3 was just a bit too much of "more of the same" for my taste.
OMFG YES YES YES!!!!!!!! I'm Buying this TODAY!!!!
I actually hated this installment, but it's HOMM so I'm going to buy it anyway... Why am I like this?

Pustako: I never understood why people despised HoMM IV <snip>
Because "WAA WAA it is not liek Heroes 3 WAA WAA!!!!!11 QQ"

A welcome addition as it is always great to be able to play more of the HoMM series.
While no one would mistake HOMM4 for a classic, I've actually looked forward to its release on digital download services such as GOG. At the very least, it's not so bad that it deserves to disappear entirely (in legally acceptable form) when all those aging CD copies have finally sold out...

I agree
I'm also going to throw my cash vote at Ubisoft's feet for Heroes Chronicles Complete, but for now I'm just going to enjoy this one. I've never had IV's expansions, it should be a good run!
ok ok, I'll go find my Visa. AGAIN.
The reason why many players of HOMAM series didn't like the fourth installment was that they got used to playing HOMAM as a casual game with almost no challenge in singleplayer campaigns. Once they explored the main points on the map they had overall control of the gameplay to its end without much need for strategic thinking.

However, the fourth introduced fog of war and caravans which made the situation more difficult. And frankly, they hated it.

What I did not like was taking the heroes captive (or being able to resurrect them). It always annoyed me when AI took over one of my castles and resurrected its strongest heroes.

And heroes on battlefield? Overall it felt ok, until you met a firemage who slayed your hero within his first move. But thats just a minor complain.
Ahhh crap I did it, I bought HoMM4 again, I tried installing my disk version and it wouldnt work and instead of even checking compatability mode I went and got the GOG version.

Why cant I just say no???

Because of the challenge? I thought it was unpopular because of the very bad AI. I hope you are right about the challenge. Adding fog of war was a good idea since this game allows many armies moving around the map, not just eight.
A nice release that I was waiting for. I have great expectations for a new fresh take on the great gameplay of the previous games, more good music from Rob King (who don't churn out the same crap again and again, listen to how different HoMM I - IV are!) and something new for HoMM, good storytelling. I'm curious on how this is integrated with the gameplay.

I have no great expectations for a good strategy game, good AI or as good graphics as in HoMM II and HoMM III so I will not be disappointed by that.

And it comes without the nefarious Securom!
