So....someone try to sell me this game? I tried to like it. Played the demo. But, the demo felt like some cheaply compiled slideshow-esque flash game. I know, I know, so was Myst, but the movement and whatever not irked me, and it just felt like a Flash game anyway.
But, I love these games! I recently played Delaware St John and thoroughly enjoyed it, even though it wasn't well received by some critiques. These games are great, but Darkfall just has this very...cheap feeling. Don't know if it's worth the money. What do those of you who've played it think?

Myst was originally made in something even more basic than Flash: HyperCard.

You tried the demo and you were not impressed. Yet, the demo obviously managed to caught your interest at some level else you wouldn't be asking about the game. To me that speaks volumes. You want to play this game. ;)
I don't know how long the demo is, but once you start piecing togheter the back story of the place and its people you'll get sucked in real fast and forget about eveything else. There's lots of depth in this back story, lots.
You're a fan of adventure and horror. How can you even consider not getting this one?
Get it.
Gah. Is the demo any indication of the full game? The "looking around" in the demo kinda annoyed me though, enough to turn me off in what I otherwise thought was kinda atmospheric. Also, I think clicking ESC made the game quit instantly, which also made me pretty annoyed when I was about to solve the first level lol

lol, i just fired up the game and loaded my current save to check this. The ESC key doesn't do anything. If you click on 'Quit', you get a 'yes/no' confirmation before the game actually quits.
About the demo, i don't know how represantive it is of the actuall game. I'm guessing it's not very represantive of the story, else you wouldn't be having any doubts.
The presentation it's done in slideshow, so the 'turning around' to the left or to the right it's done by clicking on the left or right edge of the screen. It's not like it's the only adventure game out there that uses slideshow for presentation and i really don't get how this can be an actual gripe ;)
played this game when it was first released and really enjoyed it (I'm actually not a fan of Myst style games but I love haunted house type horror adventure).
it was cool because you got to use all these tech ghostbuster gadgets on top of the usual puzzles.
I guess I missed it but the games now have ratings! Nice. :o)
Oh, this game is not for me, so I will pass.
Wasnt sure about this game but decided to buy it and i must admit i am enjoying it. The pace maybe slow but it has a great atmosphere and story it sucks you in and before you know it time has passed. If you enjoyed myst or that type of game this is well worth getting.

The demo I played took place in the hotel room. It was rather inconvenient to look around, as sometimes if you looked left from your current position, you had to move back and turn right to go back to that current position. Sounds strange, but it was like that in the demo.
I may buy this when I have the time though. I really love adventure games, and the comments here seem positive so far.

About the movement, say you're facing a wall with paintings and then you turn to face left by clicking on the left edge of the screen . If you want to face the wall with paintings again, you'll have to click once on the right edge of the screen.
From your description it doesn't sound like you looked left from your position, it seems you actually moved from one node to the next.
In any case, i hope you do get the game at some point because the story it's really interesting. I'm knee deep in notes, and charts and drawings and whatnot trying to piece togheter everything that went on at that place ;)
