Helloes,

Norwegian gamingwebsite gamer.no published an article today stating that norwegian gamedesigner Ragnar Tørnquist is working on a new Dreamfall-game with Funcom. The information comes from "Norwegian film-institute" who is helping out with funding.

The new storyline is said to pick up where Dreamfall left off.
Exciting stuff!

About time! I had almost lost all hope of seeing an end to this.
They say they are going to finance the development privately in addition to the 1M NOK NFI fund. I'm smelling an incoming Kickstarter! And I'm all ready for it! :-D

Thanks for the info. Is there any information how they will release the new game? As far as I know there was first the idea to release is as episodes like Telltale, but I guess they abandoned (for good) that idea. I'm fine with a kickstarter, because then there are good chances they will also release that game drm-free from the beginning. Btw, is there any kickstarter game with drm so far?

It is called Dreamfall Chapters, so episodic content seems likely.
hmm, they talk about new Dreamfall 'chapters', I hope they do not still plan episodic delivery, it rarely works.

A English version here:

Development is still by Tørnquist, but it seems he is leaving Funcom and setting up his own studio for this.

Thanks for the information. So it seems they still try to go the old plan. I don't know if this a good plan, but on the other hand Dreamfall was already divided in different storylines.

It's worked for P&C adventures, hasn't it?

Oh my god! I can't believe it. If they do pull it off and make it a good sequel, TLJ - Dreamfall will increase in sales as well.
My birthday party will be this saturday, the money I'll get from friends and family I'll save up for a kickstarter campaign, if there will be any.

So far, the only ones I can think of where it worked is with Telltale adventure games. There are many other examples out there where you have episode 1 of something, cliff hanger endings and defunct studios. Theoretically episodic gaming should work, in reality it rarely do. They might have a greater chance with Dreamfall, as it is already an established IP (which is the only reason I think Telltale managed to pull it off to start with). Still, I was hoping they had stopped considering episodic delivery and rather go for something more traditional.
Great news! Point and click forever.

Ditto, took him long enough as well.
Hope they won't go too far with the concept, I guess I'll be fine with getting a compilation once they're all done or something.

Episodic thingamajigs aside, yay!

Finally a resolution to that cliffhanger smash in the face!
Broken Sword 5, TLJ Chapters. All I'm missing now is Syberia 3, though that might not happen.
