might find something from that list as well.
Willow
Attila (2001) TV miniseries.
Gerard Butler is Attila the Hun. The plot is in short very similar to the Attila/the Huns campaign as in Age of Empires II game. Not so historically accurate, but the plot and combat scenes are epic. Starts from consulting a seer about his destiny, taking leadership of the tribe, raiding Eastern Roman Empire and later campaigns against Aetius who is supported by Visigoths, with the aid of the Ostrogoths, to the final battle of Catalaunian Fields, and ends with his death.

300 (2007)
"This is Spartaaa!!!" *dodging from his saliva*, Gerard Butler again played as Leonidas of Sparta. Much skins, muscles, battlecries, blood, fight against countless soldiers including the Persian's Immortals and strange monsters from the corners of the world that belong to the god-king Xerses, is the Battle of Thermopylae. This is obviously fictionalized historical. This is the story of the glorius Spartan hoplite at their golden era, from which the term "spartan" is coined. The raising of a Spartan warrior is told in the movie's opening, is amazing.

300: Rise of an Empire, a upcoming 2014 film sequel to 300!!! :D

Spartacus the TV show by Starz is a good one. 3 seasons with one miniseries prequel.
It's about Spartacus, an enslaved Thracian became a gladiator and rebelled against the Romans.
Julius Caesar appeared in season 3, he hasn't conquered Gaul at this time and become famous.
It sets in first century BCE in Roman Southern Italy. The story is fictionalized historical.
Lots of testosteron and blood as well as women's smooth skin exposed. ;)

Troy (2004)
Based on the Homer's Iliad, it's a 2 hrs and a half shortened story from the original. Helen Kruger is the reincarnation of Helen of Troy. I liked Pitt's performance. Orlando Bloom is Paris and Eric Bana is Hector. The story details are altered from the original version. Still, this movie is enjoyable to me.
Personally, I strongly sympathize the Trojans side and it's really a tragedy the whole story (Iliad). The heroes of the Achaeans side are admirable though.

Edit: Sorry OP already mentioned this. :P
Kingdom of Heaven.
Orlando Bloom is Balian d'Ibelin!
This one sets in the fictionalized Middle Ages during Crusades era. The story begins with Balian departing to Jerusalem to inherit his father's land. Reynaud de Chatillon provokes war with Saladin while Christians and Muslims are at peace.
Saladin is pressurized to retake Jerusalem from the Christians. War broken out and culminating in the Battle of Horns of Hattin, the crusaders' crushing defeat. It's followed by Saladin besieging Jerusalem. Balian takes charge of the defense of Jerusalem. The story ends with Balian returns to France.
The time frame is between the 2nd and 3rd Crusade. Jerusalem eventually falls to Saladin.
If you like Medieval era, this is recommended.

King Arthur (2004)
Starred by Clive Owen & Keira Knightley. There are so many versions about King Arthur. The movie took a more historical one. Arthur (Artorius) and his knights are Sarmatians hired as mercenaries by Romano-British authority. They look like Eastern European/Central Asian steppe horsemen, say like Atilla's the Huns. Arthur later wears Roman armor suit instead of medieval knights armor ones. No Camelot, no Excalibur & Lady of the Lake, no Mordred, no Holy Grail. Arthur is a Catholic and learned, speaks Latin, while his knights remain pagan. The battle scenes are quite satisfying.

jdsiege: Also, while you seem indifferent about chambara films, what are your thoughts on wuxia? I find they're a good supplement for my fantasy desires.
I really like chamabara and wuxia. I own seven samurai and some other kurosawa movies, and i really like the (china) swordsman movies as well as chinese ghost story. It is just that at the moment i want to see some more western stuff. So recommendations are always good. :)

Oh and thanks so far everybody, there are some things recommended i have not seen yet. :D

le_chevalier: Kingdom of Heaven.
Orlando Bloom is Balian d'Ibelin!
Yeah, sadly. I really hated this movie and ONLY because of Orlando Bloom. He might actually be the least charismatic actor of his generation. Don't get me wrong, he's not necessarily a bad actor and there may be suitable roles for him but him being Balian really ruined the film for me.

I wonder why no-one mentioned Stardust. I think it was one of the most enjoyable fantasy movies.
Well, Kubrick's Spartacus is a must-see, if you're in the genre. Hell, even if you're not: it's Kubrick's!

It damn sure is. I can only offer my own rationale for mentally blanking it out. OP asked for movies with sword fighting. When I think of Stardust, I immediately associate it with Neil Gaiman. Mr. Gaiman is not someone known writing action scenes, instead writing characters who triumph through fleet foot, wits, or even simple luck. By proxy, I did not associate Stardust with the sword fighting criteria, despite it having a rather entertaining fight scene. Again, this is my own reasoning.

Good call though, Stardust was a thoroughly enjoyable movie. Now I just need to get my sister to return my copy.

Well, on his list were cool fantasy movies. So this is one :D
Well, as you have mentioned Game of Thrones, I'm gonna assume you don't mind series recommendations. With that in mind - The Borgias. Personally, I rate it right next to Game of Thrones currently - it's clever and the theme of one of the most despotic Popes is quite intriguing to say the least.

As for fights and swordfights, well.. About as much focus on that as in GoT, really.
