Hi there,
I am a big movie buff, but maybe there are movies "under my radar" so to speak, maybe you have some good tips for me i just didnt think of.

Basically i am searching all kinds of movies or tv shows that are about fantasy and history. But not any fantasy or history, i want to have some swordfighting or battles in it.

Good examples would be Conan the Barbarian, Lord of the rings, Gladiator, Kingdom of Heavens, Game of Thrones, Record of Lodoss War, Braveheart.

Maybe even stuff like Seven Samurai, but i am more into western kind of swords in the moment. I mean nobody is angry at you if you recommend me some good japanese samurai flick, but if you have some western historical battle epic, or a really cool fantasy movie in your head, plz tell me.

I dont care if movie, tv show, anime, miniseries, western animation. I pretty much watch everything.
If you can watch a silly movie with those elements, try Time Bandits. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081633/

Also check out the Sharpe series. It's about a soldier in British army during the Napoleanic years. It stars Sean Bean. I enjoyed it immensely.

Personally, I really enjoyed Excalibur, Musa: The Warrior, and Utawarerumono (TV anime) but those are not exactly popular titles.
Oh yeah, and Red Cliff was a great watch, one of the best war films about China's Three Kingdoms period.
Ninja'd. :)

I recommend Red Cliff ( I have the long version). It's based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Not western but epic battles galore. You will have to read subtitles but it is worth it. Mongol is another good title based on Genghis Kahn but the battles are not quite as epic as in Red Cliff.
Centurion.

It's nowhere near as good as the other titles mentioned so far but it's a good flick with some cool (albeit unrealistic) jabs at Roman history.
I think King Arthur (2004) should be a good match, although personally I wasn't too fond of it.

A few staples that I'm sure you've seen but will suggest regardless:
Lou Ferrigno's Hercules & Sinbad movies
The Beastmaster
Highlander
Clash of the Titans
Jason and the Argonauts

Also, while you seem indifferent about chambara films, what are your thoughts on wuxia? I find they're a good supplement for my fantasy desires.

You, sir, just sent a chill down my spine. One of the films I came in to suggest was Musa. I haven't ever spoken to another that has seen it, I'm sad to say. I really need to get my hands on the director's cut. The version I have is great but it feels like a bit of character development was cut.
Princess Bride :).
Ladyhawk
Brotherhood of the Wolf
Captain Blood, The Sea Hawk, Adventures of Robin Hood, The Mark of Zorro...
You might enjoy Hrafn Gunnlaugsson's viking movies: The Raven Flies, Shadow of the Raven, and Embla the White Viking. They're not fantasy, more historical epics, but worth checking out if you can find them.
While I've only season the first season of Spartacus and its later prequel mini-series, I very much enjoyed both. Some rather nice gladiatorial fighting with interesting use of stylistic gore. Lots of scenes of nude dudes though. Didn't bother me at all, but I know some may be uncomfortable with that. *shrug* On a whole its kind of crude, though that's one thing I really like about the show. It's definitely not for kids. ;)

Shame you need sword fighting; I was going to suggest History of the World: Part I.
The good old Conan movies

-Conan the Barbarian (-82)
-Conan the Destroyer (-84)
-Rod Sonja (-85)
-"Unofficial 3rd Conan" -> Kull the Conqueror

Havent seen the 2011 new Conan the Barbarian, so cant comment on that.

I head "Mongol" (2007) is supposedly decent movie of Ghengis Khan, but have not seen it myself either.

Even if you do not watch anime, you must watch Ninja Scroll original movie - its high culture of sword fighting / ninja stuff you know :)
The Rome series had some good fight scenes in it. Some of the others I thought of have already been mentioned, but perhaps The Thirteenth Warrior, Troy, Timeline, The Musketeer, Highlander, Immortals, and 300
