rampancy: Myth TFL and Myth 2 were some of the best (if not the first) fully 3D RTT games (well, the terrains were 3D, but the units were 2D sprites).
Mmmmmh...
Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat - 1995
Powermonger - 1990

Myth was awesome but let's not give Bungie too much credit. :P

IronArcturus: Is there a real chance that GOG could get the Myth series? I've always wanted to try those games!
Well, depends on whether GOG gets to sign Take Two, it seems. I think there's always a chance.

tfishell: You could say that about a lot of publishers, though.

Grargar: Scratch that, they have actually released Railroad Tycoon 2 on Steam. The question remains as to why they haven't bothered with other games from their older backlog when other companies like Activision, Bethesda, EA and Ubisoft have done so.
they also (briefly apparantly ) released gta 1 and 2 on steam
avatar
F4LL0UT: Heh, I always believed that Eidos / Square Enix has the rights to those because the European release had their logo on it.
Eidos was publishing a lot of games at that time, but from what I understand they didn't have any "proper" rights to them. For example I was surprised recently by finding Eidos logo on my Blood CD.

Grargar: Take-Two doesn't seem to care too much about old games, as they haven't even bothered with anything pre-2000 on Steam.
The original, 2D GTAs are on there - only available as part of packs with other GTA games but still...

They surely had all the rights to many of the games they published (such as Tomb Raider). The thing is that in case of games like Myth they were obviously just contracted to handle European marketing and distribution for a game that had been funded/produced in the US. That's a fairly common and to some degree necessary thing, especially for smaller companies (which was certainly true for Bungie who published Myth themselves in the US).

As far as I know, they don't do so anymore.

That's a different story because Eidos owned Core Design. Perhaps I shouldn't have said published but distributed. That's what CD Projekt was doing for the most part until they got into game development.

Maaan - that's rough! and there was me still hoping that London 1969 (and the obscure '61 expansion) would get added..
Although, saying that, I think the GTA 1 was available as freeware from the Rockstar site at one point too, and on Freeloader before that...

Actually it was Wild Metal Country. I managed to snatch all three of those a few years ago.

thats the one

i generally ignored it cause i only wanted gta 1 and 2
...never played them
MYTH: TFL and MYTH 2: Soulblighter are the 2 GOAT games for me.

The user generated content powered by fear & loathing are excellent too - dwarf riot, WW2: RECON, the seventh god, BUSHIDO, Lego, Jinn, CHIMERA, wild west and the civil war mod to name a few..

I bought some discs for way-too-cheap off of Amazon last year. I've never played 3 (I heard it was rubbish) but 1 and 2 were grand games.

Too bad. It's surprisingly fun and original. I wish these days Rockstar would try coming up with such games.
