I don't think there has been any need for moderators so far, yes sometimes people have gone a bit overboard but it has barely happened. And when it has in fact happened there has been a lot of self moderation by the rest of the members.

The GoG forums for now are calm enough to not really need any overbearing or blatant moderation teams. Maybe in the future as GoG gets more popular, but for now, no.
Besides, we don't have to worry about Counter-Strike kiddies deciding to ruin it all for us. It's a nice cozy little home right now, and I'm glad it's still that way.

I like it when I find forums like this without the typical internet spam. Right now what would a moderator do? Most people here are pretty good about staying on topic.

I agree, that the GOG community behaves really well.
But there was this Thread about the Arx Fatalis Patch that has really gone too far.
And by that I don't mean the first post, but the fact that it got quite personal after a few dozend postings.
That was the only occasion where I thought we could use someone with the rights to close a thread.
I'm glad it died, but things like that can really lead to nasty flame wars.
I don't like to see that happening here on the GOG community.
So yes, it would be nice to have someone to address in cases like the said thread.

Trust me, with a thread like that, you can't just close it, that'd be even worse. I suppose most of us have at one point or another frequented a game company driven forum, where threads critical to said company were closed, or even deleted entirely. We do not want to go there. That way lies madness... ;-)

Yeah, I like how that thread was never shut down and it simply died by itself, wouldn't shutting the thread down just make people more furious?

I agree however, more to the point, it wasn't a thread that really needed closing. There were many unjst statements in there but on the whole it was a fairly controlled conversation between many parties. Nothing particularly drastic in it.

I wish to be a moderator and become drunk on power
power is so dangerous in my hands. Bow before me or I'll slaughter you all like a wolf among lambs! MUAHAHAHAHAHHA
on a serious note:
I really don't think gog.com is going to get afflicted by a troll plague, popular or not.
Clearly this website attracts a very certain type of gamer.
You would be hard pressed to find any of those little shits who play xbox live all day, calling everyone 'nigger' and 'fag', on this site.
What I'm trying to say is that it takes a certain type of individual who requires moderation. I don't think those types would come here.
And if they do, I believe we're all intelligent and mature enough to ignore it.
Having said that, moderation for the organization of the forum's sake... yeah I'm all for it. Posts are going to need to get moved, threads split/joined/moved/deleted/etc
