When you hit "reply" is adds the {quote_14}- Or whatever number is relevant. The number is the post in the thread. Ie you're {quote_14}, Ois is {quote_16} and I'm {quote_17}
So when you hit "reply" in the other thread and you copy and pasted for for this thread you inadvertantly picked Ois ie
To find the number of the post you can hover the mouse over the post and it will show on the top next to the chain-looking symbol. You can also click on that number/symbol to get the link specific to that location in a post :)

We'll need mods eventually (though be careful what you wish for).
I'd like to see some functional enhancements to the forum a little sooner, though.

Thank you, but it's not just about the rude stuff... there's stuff like moving, splitting, reordering and so on that would the whole thing a lot more enjoyable IMHO. I've sent a message to the GoG team, maybe we can get a direct reply
Added a link to this thread to my unnecessary new thread. Here's the text again:
Just to make this absolutely clear: No, I do NOT want to be a moderator. I do NOT want any power, this is purely to improve the quality of the discussions.
Recently I've had a few discussions which I did not enjoy at these forums. In fact, I've seen plenty of cases in these forums (and yes, sadly I have contributed to some) where there was rude, senseless bashing going on. But I still don't like it.
There's also an awful lot of off-topic conversation going on which isn't bad in itself, but it kinda disrupts a thread, so it would be good to move them to separate threads.
I realize that the GoG team is too busy to constantly watch the forums, but we have some senior members here, who have proven that they're capable of that, so why not give them mod status (assuming such a status exists yet in the forum software). Not admin rights, but maybe moving, splitting, editing, deleting. I think this could help a lot,

It's alright, I agree moderators might be nice. Have you been to the Witcher forums? pretty neat those.it seems we've asked for a direct copy of it. Anyway, I suggest we hold off until after the GOG Update 1.

Haven't been to those yet (only played the Witcher very briefly), but I've been a mod on some phpBB and Invision boards and I don't think there's much need to reinvent the wheel for mod controls. I can see why gog wants to go it's own way for what the users see, but mod controls don't have to hold up to the same minimalistic style, so they could just copy phpBBs controls and be done with it.

Copied fromdeleted unnecessary new thread
DarrkPhoenix:
DarrkPhoenix:
I'd caution against any significant moderation at this point. As the community grows, trolls show up, and so forth, more moderation will be necessary to keep the peace, but for a community that is really only in its early stages of development significant moderation can quickly halt the growth of the community. From what I've observed of this community so far it's remarkably tame, and my concern would be that moderation at this point would result in the forums becoming cliquish as they develop, making many people, especially newcomers, feel unwelcome (seen it happen with many smaller forums).
My own recommendation would be that once the GOG folks feel that moderators are necessary, to appoint one or two of the GOG staff to head up the moderators, select the rest of the moderation team from among the community, then (very important) draw up a clear set of forum rules and also develop an idea of what the GOG team's vision for the community is and make it clear to the moderators how they should conduct themselves in order to work towards this vision.
When moderation is first begun it will result in shaping the development of the community, and thus is not something that should be handled casually if the community is important to the GOG team.

I gotta agree with DarrkPhoenix on this. The forums and the community are still building and developing. So far, the community has been pretty much "self-moderating" and I see no real need for moderators (yet). Besides, considering that GOG developed this forum software on its own, there might not even be the necessary functionality built in to allow for limited access community moderators (again, yet).
