cjlr, RahaMies, IH: added to friends list, just in case :)
I never played Guild wars but it would be cool to have this thing running. Taking advantage of this thread:
1. I hear there's the original game Guild wars and then stand-alone expansions. In order to run with you guys do I have to have all expansions? A friend of mine is got a copy of the original Guild wars but I can't hope to get the other packages anywhere here...
2. In case I can play with the original game only, do I need to pick a given server/place/race/class in order to join your operation?
I've already got Guild Wars, but not installed, I'm running Nightfall ATM. Would it do any harm to install Guild Wars itself as long as I had a seperate character for Prophecies.
I don't have a guild invite from Almak yet, at least last I checked. I'm at the second co-op mission, but the AI isn't interested in self preservation here it seems.
I'm still trying to do that damned chef mission near the start, where the hell do you find skale fins.

No and no
Provided you have at least one of the same expansions as someone else, you can hang out together in the areas in that expansion. And there are no class/race/server reqs for the guild.

You find them on skales. "Trophy" items like these can be a pain to gather sometimes. I'd concentrate on other quests and missions for the time being and just keep every skale fin I find along the way.
Regarding the OP : I'm glad to see other people on GOG enjoy GW. I've been playing since May 2005 and I still log-in from time to time to vaquish an area or do a HM mission, although I've gotten a bit bored with the game recently so I've been taking long breaks.
I suppose I can give you the IGN of one of my character : Lady Aluqah. I usually play alone, but I also enjoy helping new players with missions or quests they find too difficult or any questions they have. I won't be able to add you to my friend list though, it's completely filled already =P.

I'm trying to hook up the trial version here, it's taking a while to download. Later on, can I use my character in my friend's copy of the game, perhaps on his actual account? Am I in for a total mess by starting now with the trial and using his copy later?
Also, is it recommended to buy all campaigns?

Unless they changed the way trials work, what you're downloading right now is the full game. There should be no difference between it and your friend's copy of the game. To play the game you'll have to create an account. Once the trial is over (or even before it's over, if you can't wait), you should be able to add a "full version" access key to your account and keep playing with your characters.
You will not be able to transfer or use your characters on your friend's account, but I dont see why you'd want to do that, since sharing the same account means you wouldn't be able to play together.
As for buying all campaigns, if you're serious about playing GW then yes, it's a good idea to own them all. But there's plenty of content in each individual campaign to keep you occupied for a while.

Anyone knows how much they charge for this full version access?

Depends on where you do your shopping. There's an in-game store that allows you to buy the game from within the game ... (sounds wierd when I say it like that, I know). I can't check the prices because I already own all chapters, but I'm pretty sure you can find better deals in retail stores.
I've checked amazon and they're selling the Guild Wars Trilogy for 47 US $. Not a bad deal considering you get all 3 standalone chapters in this package. If you really like GW you can then buy the Eye of the North expansion later on. You might be able to find it at a lower price if you shop around a bit.

i got the base game off of newegg.com for $10 with free shipping. i think steam sells the trilogy for $40, which comes with some worthwhile extras if you think you are going to play all of the new campaigns.
edit: it's $50 on steam, newegg has it for $47 w/ free shipping. the vanilla game is still $10 there but not free shipping.

I find it a rather bad deal to pay the same for the digital version and the hard copy. I'll see if I can get a retailer who'll send it all the way down to Brazil. I usually get games from CD Universe, but they don't have the trilogy... Amazon won't ship here...
A slightly more detailed search revealed Gamestop does ship down here. Fry's Home Electronics *appears* to. Anyone knows these sites, has ever used them?
Right now I'm running trial, Bizarre Liadon is my name!
By the way! If you're accepting half-assed noobs, add my Bizarre Liadon character to the guild!
I added most of the guys who posted their names here as friends in my current trial thing...

I don't see a guild invite as of yet, but I've added most of the names displayed here.
Okay, question. I bought Prophecies when first released. I can't recall my account details or even the email I used at the time.
However, I've already installed Nightfall, newly purchased and opened a new account. Can I install Prophecies and link this to my new account?

im not sure is there a possibility to merge accounts, coz u need activation key for campaign.
u connect campaigns by adding key to existing account.
