Runehamster: Neat! Thank you! Will I have other options for weapons? I would have preferred he just carried his cane and used it as an improvised staff or club when necessary. Not exactly the smitey type, Father Le'Minz.
avatar
stoicsentry: Sure. There are lots of different types of weapons. I'll allow you to bring your cane, and make it your primary weapon.

We'll stow away your guild-issued Mace into your items backpack for now. Maybe you can sell it or trade it at a later time.
Thank you very much! I couldn't find a list of weapons, so I thought I'd ask. Also, not sure how flexible DM's like to be. I'll try not to ask for concessions too often, though! :P

I tend to be very flexible, as long as you don't take advantage of it. An old man asking to use his walking stick? How could I argue? Haha.

The only current list of weapons can be found in Yar's Blades and Bolts in the Merchants forum (The shop is not open yet.)

Also, just so you're not confused, we do everything here on GOG's forums, so you don't need to post there. It's just a handy way to store information.

Oh good, I was getting confused. All the posts there were from the admin! And old? Hee, some people on the forums might get a bit offended at that xD

Grr, my post got munched.

I'm quite excited! That looks perfect - I hope my RP skills aren't too rusty. I used to do a lot of forum RP and moderating, but it was freeform. I also played some Iron Realms MUDs for a while, but it's not quite the same.

I see on the first page that people are talking about putting points into their skills. Did I miss that area on the forums? I didn't see any skills beyond those listed under classes.

You didn't miss anything. I'm just changing the system from specific skills to classes. (The way it used to be.)

Thought that skills would be fun because it allows for unlimited customization and whatnot, but it really gets confusing because you have to qualify everything that "does" and "does not" fall under a specific skill. This way it's more spelled out and orderly. Should be smoother.

I will still consider allowing choices to expand/add skills in the future, but I'm more convinced now than ever that it has to be done in a slow and calculated manner.

I tend to think the less restrictive the better - sometimes it's good to let people's skill at roleplaying organically affect the way their character is played, instead of defining it all for them ahead of time.

Agree, want it to be more organic, I just didn't like the situation of "can I?" "can't I?", "how do I?"

This way is a little more open ended, I think you'll see what I mean. The only things that are defined specifically are super unique abilities (like "turn undead").

Hopefully this will help people worry less about the can I/can't I and more about how their character *wants* to act.

Aye, that's what I thought you meant! Merry Christmas, Stoic! Time for me to get some shuteye!

Runehamster: Name: Father Arkades Le'Minz
Class: Cleric
Race: Human
Personality: Kind, warmhearted, surprisingly naive, and overly moralistic, but a good listener. Usually.
Physical Traits: In his late 40's. Tall and slender, with prematurely graying mouse-brown hair. No identifying marks or scars, but uses a cane to compensate for a crippled leg.
Welcome to the crew Father Arkades Le'Minz.. Its good to have a new human member to the legion. Maybe will quest together some time soon.

it has been quit around here Stoicsentry, look like not much voting. I wouldn't mine helping the temple out quest 5 got my vote.

Yeah, thread just started, but quiet so far. I will add your vote!

I'm adjusting back to a class-based system, what class would you like for Garrett? Looks like either Knight or Abjurer, based on the way you described him.
Vote for number 6 over here.
All of the votes have been counted.
Rohan Ta’er
Spy
Vasar
Male

Sneaky and charismatic, good with the ladies and agile. Avoids human contact.
I vote on 2.
