We'll be removing a number of games from the GOG.com catalog - here's your last call to get them with a special discount!

Today, we're here to honor the promise we gave you to announce ahead of time whenever we're taking a game down from sales. We wanted to give you one last chance to get the titles we're delisting with a considerable discount, and the partners involved agreed. There are 35 games on that list and you can get them all for up to 80% off until Tuesday, September 2, at 3:59AM GMT. Any title you buy will remain in your collection even after it's removed from our catalog, so you can always download and re-download the installers and bonus content. Check out the promo page to see which games this concerns.

We're still ironing out a few details. For now, the promo pages, like the one for the Last Chance Special, list all the game prices only in US dollars. But don't freak out: if you chose to use your local currency you will see the prices in local currency in checkout, and you can still finalize the transaction in local currency. We hope to have this issue fixed within the next weeks.

I will put up the gift codes for the spell force series, just post later which codes you redeemed so people will not wonder why the codes are not redeemable.

This 2 code I just bought about an hour ago, maybe GOG system does not register they yet even though they are in my gift library. Sigh, and I just contact GOG for other gift problems yesterday......

Gift codes are currently broken. There is a work around however. I'll have to see if I can find the thread.

Are the last two summoner packs worth it? I already have the base games. I might add the black mirror games but those are available elsewhere, right? I don't know if I have enough money to purchase all four of these.

Checked it out of curiosity, it's already used. It was locked during transaction, not Gog-s fault ;)

Zoidberg: It's all fine and dandy, yes, but the point of my post (it was a bit cryptic yes, but there's too much trolling around here so I didn't bother :P), was that VAT should logically go my country each time I buy here, right? Same for any other country really, there's VAT even in US, am I wrong? So is VAT suddenly added to the cart of a US buyer when he checkouts here?
No, we do not have a federal sales tax or VAT. Most (but not all) States have a sales tax, but our Supreme Court has ruled that online sellers only have to collect tax from consumers residing in States where the seller has a physical presence (iirc).

Citizens are supposed to report their online purchases on their State tax returns, but few do (I could rant for pages about how we're sick and tired of government taking more and more of our income, about how working people have to pay ridiculous fees for government 'services' despite our tax dollars supposedly paying for those services, etc). Some politicians have been pushing for legislation called the Marketplace Fairness Act to allow States to require online shops to collect sales taxes when their residents make purchases regardless of whether or not the seller has a physical presence in the State, but thankfully the bill faces tough resistance (tho I wouldn't be surprised to see it rammed through somehow in the future).

For equal prices, the base game price would have to be the same for everyone, and sales tax or VAT would have to be applied on a country-by-country basis at checkout. But that's just an aside: I lean toward thinking regional prices have the best potential to be fair and to maximize access by adjusting the price to local markets, but that we need to fight for better implementation of regional pricing to correct current problems (such as some Eastern European countries getting charged Western European prices despite having very different economies, etc).

Well truelick beat you to the punch.

It is GOG fault that they show the wrong code in my gift library..

Sorry if I confuse you by not elaborate further on the other GOG misstep, by GOG mess up big time I am refering to 40+ gift transaction missing from my gift library, hence I donno how much of my gift has been redeemed and how much is still valid. I certainly do not envy the GOG support that have to shift through ~25 of screen shot to verify with their database. I certainly am fustrated by just by browsing theough my mail history and taking the screen shot myself.

I figured it is unrelated to this gifting and did not mention it, but my fustration somehow show in the tone of words I used

What the fuck.

With all the big changes going on I missed but why are so many games getting taken down. I think we deserve an answer for this. I really like the Amnesia games. Is this GOG's doing or is this the companies giving gog the figure or something.

bmihoric: A while ago, GoG was derailed by a bunch of whiners. Still on the wrong track, the jungle just got thicker and first serious consequences are beginning to show. The site could get stuck in a real deep mud eventually, and get pulled under.

Seeing the movies being added, it's obvious GoG is trying hard to find new content, now that those whiners practically cut GoG away from new games.

Still not too late to change. I never understood, why GoG didn't publicly ask EVERYONE here to VOTE whether we are OK with regional prices, if it brings new AAA titles here. Why just listen to the loud croud, and pretend there is no alternative? Why, GoG?
