We'll be removing a number of games from the GOG.com catalog - here's your last call to get them with a special discount!

Today, we're here to honor the promise we gave you to announce ahead of time whenever we're taking a game down from sales. We wanted to give you one last chance to get the titles we're delisting with a considerable discount, and the partners involved agreed. There are 35 games on that list and you can get them all for up to 80% off until Tuesday, September 2, at 3:59AM GMT. Any title you buy will remain in your collection even after it's removed from our catalog, so you can always download and re-download the installers and bonus content. Check out the promo page to see which games this concerns.

We're still ironing out a few details. For now, the promo pages, like the one for the Last Chance Special, list all the game prices only in US dollars. But don't freak out: if you chose to use your local currency you will see the prices in local currency in checkout, and you can still finalize the transaction in local currency. We hope to have this issue fixed within the next weeks.

Gersen: Which is exactly what they promised to do when they first talked about the introduction of regional pricing; you cannot really blame GoG for keeping their "promise".
I mostly blame them for making that bonehead move of introducing regional currencies across their whole catalogue in the first place.

PLEASE be more clear about DISCONTINUED games in the future.

"Last Chance Special" to me mean "last chance to get these games at xx% off" NOT "last chance to get these games on Gog EVER!"

The disappointing thing is that after crossing this threshold with Nordic/Frictional I don't see GOG suddenly recanting or changing otherwise.

I don't see the logic in releasing Black Mirror 3 here in the absence of the first two. However, if GOG can consider something a newer/indie release by whatever random/inconsistent definition they use then GOG is grand offering whatever regional differences in price is necessary for the publisher/developer. Maybe we'll see new Nordic titles like Titan Quest, Darkriders, or Black Mirror 3 under "new/indie" regional pricing loophole but I'm not holding my breath (because Jack Keane 2 and Spellforce 2: Demons of the Past are themselves newer games being removed).

This is the last chance to get these titles on GOG ever

...Barring some later agreement to re-add these titles. It's happened in the past that titles were removed and re-added (for example, this is the second time Dark Fall is being removed from GOG) but I wouldn't expect these to re-appear later because removing them to begin with seems to reflect a serious impass not likely to just disappear.

The issue isn't really strictly "regional pricing" but that some currencies/regions carry with them additional taxes or even fluctuate so much it's hard for a publisher/developer to track exchange rates and keep things balanced. A lot of regional pricing seems frivilous but here there is a direct relationship to compensating actual cost incurred to developer/publisher versus that publisher just taking a hit on part of the sale price.

It's not about sale popularity. It's about currency conversion rates; silly business stuff not well implemented by GOG.

Imho its pretty obvious that all reason for removing named titles from GOG is just 100% moving to Steam.
BTW, that will be with gift codes purchased for titles to be removed? Will they still work?

Nordic has explicitly stated a commitment to continued DRM free releases and many of these titles are available DRM free on nearly ever other digital retailed; you may assume this is a move to Steam but there is no basis for that.

Codes will remain good indefinitely.

Another thing I hate: splitting titles from the same series between GOG and Steam.

Take the King's Bounty franchise as an example. GOG has the Legend, Armored Princess and Crosswords. Steam has those three titles plus Warriors of the North and Dark Side. So Steam has the complete set, and GOG does not.

I don't know about you guys, but I like to keep everything from the same series at the same place at either GOG or Steam. So I bought the first three on GOG. Then the other two came out, and have been available at Steam but not GOG. That has really ticked me off. It seemed to me that GOG would never get the other two. So I bought the other two at Steam. I ended up buying the complete set from Steam. I wanted everything together at one place.

Another one with the similar problem is Freedom Force. GOG has the second one. Steam has both. Now GOG is losing the second one as well.

That is another reason why now I prefer to buy my games from Steam: at least I know I would have a better chance of getting everything and keeping everything together at the same place at Steam.

Well, if losing a few publishers is the price for sticking to our principles, then I'll gladly pay it.

Other publishers have nice games too.
