Kamfrenchie: except that's a bad comparison. I dont think you will find EA exclusive retailers or Steam retailers IRL.
I dont want to have to install 5 different programs wih 5 different friend list etc. if every publisher decide they want to have exclusivity on all their games and whatnot and go with their own version of steam/orign.
Retailers will sell you product from all publishers if they can, so they're beter in that regard. Plus i like having the disk and box
Elmofongo: well i'll defend my comparison by saying this: the gamestop thats close to my home does not have the game I want but I heard that a walmart thats farther away from my home does. I dont want to have to install 5 different programs wih 5 different friend list etc. if every publisher decide they want to have exclusivity on all their games and whatnot and go with their own version of steam/orign.

If you want me to stay with your example, then i guess steam is the walmart and origin the gamestop.
So steam/mart has a wider hoice than origin/stop
but they are at equal distance (same effort to get on steam or on origin)
also, EA has worst reputation than steam ... (kind goes gainst the example since wallmart ha the worst reputation to me, but whatever.)
In the end, Steam has the wider choice like wallmart, but unlike wallmart, better reputation than EA
Steam > Origin for range of games and image/reputation/integrity/whatever.
UI wise, no one has a significant edge.
Steam wins.
Besides i don't mind a walk from time to time to get some video games :)
