How in the hell did consoles claim FPS?

It's harder to develop strategy games for them than PCs? :P

Games that are developed for consoles are designed and created on PCs. It is easier to deal with consoles since they are standardized with hardware specifics, where PCs have lots of variations in processors and video cards, as well as Operating Systems. So, it does take more effort, and time, to produce games for PCs, though smart developers make the extra effort to earn revenue from all markets.

I suppose we should mention mobile devices too, though they are less standardized than consoles.

PC game releases may come later, but this is where games really come to life because of the advanced graphics, and it is the peak of game distribution, where consoles have a more limited consumer base due to platform exclusivity, not to mention that PCs are where the majority of advertising is done.

What I’ve observed as the main difference between Console Control and Keyboard Mouse Control: (Besides the obvious lack of keys to map actions to...)

Using a mouse and keyboard, we can move more quickly and be precise with aiming. With gamepads, movement is slower to account for limited range joysticks, and requires more strafing action to zero in to be precise whilst aiming.

If you are having issues with going from KB and Mouse to a Gamepad, try not to increase the sensitivity too much at first, or at all (from default settings), otherwise you’re movements might be too wild to control. Instead, try focusing more on your side to side strafing (and a bit of forward/backward movement too) to help with targeting. Once you are used to the joystick controls, then you can up the sensitivity a bit.
