TheCheese33: I also own all three consoles, but my favorite of the bunch has to be the PS3. I like the 360 controller more than a mouse and keyboard sometimes, but the games and pricing of LIVE doesn't sit well with me.

Is it really different from an mmo subscription?

TheCheese33: better exclusive titles like inFamous, Killzone, Metal Gear Solid, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Resistance, Wipeout HD, and so on.

Don't forget those exclusive loading ads in WipeoutHD. I thought the 1-2 ads on the xbox dashboard were bad till I saw that
I've been considering getting me one of these as well. Not yet fully convinced.
I'm primarily a PC gamer, and the last console I owned was the Saturn, I've not been too impressed with gaming/games/consoles after that. So I stick with what I've been using the most.
What sorts of games are you interested in?

Actually they removed them. For now at least.

RPGs, TBSs, old-style adventure and 'spreadsheet' games. Or anything that is not twitched based, though some racing and FPS games are a guilty pleasure.

I don't get it. Would that make it okay?
A console seems like a slightly odd choice. Still there's probably some you might like that you don't know about, youtubing some games might be a good plan

Those got removed 24 hours after they were submitted. The only ad I encountered in that time was for the expansion pack.

My problem is that they're charging for a service that the PC, Wii, and PS3 provide for free. MMOs like Warcraft are understandable to charge for, because they are constantly running servers that keep people online and playing, and they do not make any in-game ad revenue. When I buy a product, I prefer paying one large fee to never have to pay anything again for that product, instead of being billed monthly or yearly.

In these days I have to decide whether to buy a Wii, and Xbox or a digital camera. Guess what? I've got too many old games to play on my crappy old PC right now, hence I'll go for the camera... the new-gen can wait for me :-P
I am completely underwhelmed by the next-gen consoles. They are just like the last-gen turds only shinier ....<yawn>
Welcome to the current gen of console gaming.
Consoles are for entertainment and games reflect that. Especially that can be seen in "dumbed down" games. No more gritting teeth and goodbye 2000+ page manual which you have memorize word by word to effectively play a frigging game. That was the old school. Not that I mind good old fashioned gaming once in a while.
When I come home and I'm tired, I don't want my game to first punch me in the face then kick my ass for couple of hours and finally taking a pint size chunk of flesh from my hand. What I want is to be entertained and have a good relaxing time. Maybe a gentle bitchslap but nothing too serious. Also a plus for no need to worry will my rig run "insert a game name here" properly.
Now, before those so called pc elitist come and "rip" me off I have say that on holidays and weekends I still enjoy some serious pummeling courtesy of Hearts of Iron 2, Galactic civilization 2 and Sins of a solar Empire.
And yes, this post is nothing more than shameless attempt at saying: "I love Rambo but citizen kane has a place in heart too so don't hit hard."
Honestly, if you were expecting a unanimous amount of positive feedback for a console this is probably not the right forum. I love my 360 though, sure I'm on my fourth one and each of the previous three broke after around 8 months but hey this one has lasted for 10 months so far maybe ive broken the curse!! Seriously though I do love the box even though it can be trying at times. Also helps that my PC cant play any current games haha.
I have a PS3 though that was bought back when Blu Ray players were more expensive than the PS3... so obviously the only thing I use it for is to play demos and watch movies.
I also own a Wii which I used occasionally, meaning maybe 2 or 3 hours a week if that much at all.
Yup, I'm a PC gamer all right...
PC gaming FTW anyway. Though having a console isn't all that bad. Thanks to my 360, I can play Peggle in HD.
IN HD!!
That's pretty much the only reason I have a 360.
