Snickersnack: The FEAR games are laughably scary.

FEAR 1 replica soldiers are ton of fun to shoot though. For dumb bots, they almost seem like they want to survive (if you don't look too closely). Forget Alma, the Pointman is the monster creeping around and killing everyone.
Alma DID kill a bunch of people in FEAR though...like all those soldiers near the beginning of the downtown section, and in the main Armacham building.....she literally splatted them into puss.
I liked both F.E.A.R. and F.E.A.R. 2, although my favourite was the Perseus Mandate expansion.
No, no one has played one of the highest rated FPS games of all time that got two expansions and two sequels. Nope, it's a really niche title, no reviews you could go read or youtube footage you could watch... you're completely in the dark on this one I'm afraid.

In all seriousness FEAR is one of the best FPS games ever made and in my top 10 of all time list.

Absolutely true but how could you tell with the mountain of Replica soldier and Armacham security gibs everywhere? ;) Pointman and Fettel got all the action.

This.

People say all FPS are the same. This is not true. FEAR1 is really something special.

FEAR was pretty sweet, good solid shooter with a nice creepy atmos, interesting weapons and enemies and a bullet time mechanic that not only was good to use but was justified beyond "well it looks cool and max payne had it"

From what I've played of the expansions & the sequel, they were pretty average. I'd have to give them another chance with a fresh perspective though, I may have been too coloured by my memories of the first game to give the others a fair hearing
Meh, I know that I'll disagree with the majority here, but for me - FEAR was just a corridor. Lost interest fairly quickly and that was it.

Bullshite.....fettel bit their heads and some other shite, he didn't splat them into puss. :P

:)
FEAR is awesome and HIGHLY recommended - one of the best FPS's in the genre.
FEAR Expansions where nowhere as great as the original game.

FEAR 2 is good and much better than the FEAR 1 expansions.
FEAR 2 is just nowhere as great as the original.
This game follows too many FPS trends (tram ride sequence, rail shooter sequence, vehicular combat sequence, etc etc), instead of setting trends like the original FEAR did. Still - the SP is worth your time.
Good luck w/ finding people playing the MP - was tough to find some actually playing the MP, when I did try it.

FEAR 3 might be interesting, but....I dunno... *shrug*

I would not have played that game to the end if it were not for the enemy AI, which really raised the bar in terms of what people expected from combat. Other than that I though it was just an uninteresting lump of corridor shooting, and doesn't warrant a mention in any best-of-FPS list.
I played it in the dark after ten coffees. needless to say, pants were soiled.

Yup...those who didn't get at least startled as they walked around & who didn't turn most corners with a bit of tension must be gurochan frequenters or something if nothing scares them anymore.
I bought F.E.A.R. and it's expansions on Steam a while back but I haven't played them because I have to download them all in one 17gb chunk and cannot download the original game seperately. Which is really annoying.

I liked FEAR. It's one of the few games that didn't feel cheap at ANY point, and whenever you died you did because you sucked, not because of bad design. Can't remember any game having mechanics that good in a while. Except maybe Call of Juarez: Bound In Blood (My 2nd favorite FPS of all time)

I always got the impression that the vehicular combat was a nod to Shogo (not the only one in the games).

I really liked F.E.A.R. I actually really like most Monolith games. I just don't understand the "it's not scary" argument. Off course it isn't - no game is.

Same here.
And FEAR 2 was even worse for me.
