well with all the recent new releases and sales i dont see really many old games released :(
i would be happy if more and more dos games/win games would be released even more. i dont think all publishers were asked yet?

there is just so much left :(
First, I believe we are still averaging 1 game from the 80s and 90s about every 10 days. The latest was from 1981, released 2 days ago and free.

And second, get off my lawn!

drink the water and the kool aid !

and there might be so much left but that doesnt mean that the rights holders are interested in seeing these games re released
or the rights are tied up ( see blood omen 1 )
or they dont want to give up their drm
or they dont believe in drm free
etc etc

its not as easy as as saying gog why yu no moar new old games ?!

to stay competitive gog has to offer newer games too and whats wrong with that ?
I suppose it makes sense to have the old games on digital but then again many are. You can download quite a large number for free from a variety of places and play in emulators. Talking about 70-80s game roms. Many times they are even posted by the publishers. Other than that it seems them being released is all up to the rights holders contacting the likes of GOG.

On that note my suggestion would be to track down the rights holders of those games you wish to see added and ask, beg, plead, bribe them to do so. =) It's not just up to GOG but those with the rights desire to make a profit and the costs of the release.
If you add a new game, it doesn't take the place of an old game. Think about it.

Actually, unless I am mistaken, the last Good Old Game we got (depending on how you look at it) before Akalabeth was AvP2000, released (for purchase) at the end of November.

Not saying I don't understand (some of) GOG's difficulties bringing classics, especially if most people have been satisfied with the latest releases, but we shouldn't gloss over the fact that pre-2008 (if that works for "classic") games or non-new-indie titles or AAA titles have been few and far between.
Now it is "Good Ol' Games".... still works.

If they merge with EA it will be "Good Origin Games."

since never its a example of how the goal posts for old games are shifting

sims 2 might be "modern" but its also 10 years old by now
Literally speaking they changed the name of GOG a while back. So GOG does *not* stand for Good Old Games anymore, which is why they removed any reference of that on the site.

Other than that though supposedly they release about the same amount of classics as they used to so not much has changed there except they also release a lot of other stuff as well.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, GOG needs to come up with a new definition to their acronym. They're never going to shirk the "Good Old Games" moniker if they don't, and all it currently does is cause confusion.

I count 34 releases in 2014 from 2000 and earlier. That's around 1 per 10 days.

great overall games ? ;p
Of course it continue being the place for Good Old Games, but is cool it release other games too. That way the site can remains like a perfect platform for those who seek PC gaming entertainment.

Isn't cool have PC games spread all over several places, so point for GOG for his expansion into more and more games, old or new ones!
