Grargar: I'd rather not go into theories, but look at the results directly. The results are fewer pre-2K games, but overall the same amount of releases as 2013 (and maybe a bit more).
why are we only counting pre-2K games? I think you have to account for any game older than say... 5 years old. Because let's face it, the cut-off for technology is pretty short.

And on that note. GOLD BOX GAMES, PLX.

Forgotten Realms Archive Silver Edition, specifically. I still have my book and Code wheels. I want those on my GoG shelf!!

Everyone has their own definition of what's old and what's not. I, for example, don't consider a game like Assassin's Creed old. My choice was to include all games from the year 2000 and earlier. Others might have wanted a list of games that were at least 10 years old.
Assassin's Creed is old though. It's over 6 years old, and that in electronics and gaming is a whole generation. It was released at the beginning of the last generation. That's pretty old, even if it looks and plays great.

Yet, it doesn't feel old to me. Just as others don't consider a game released after 2000 old and just as others don't consider a game like Dishonored new.

i consider 10 years a good cut off point
so games from 2004 ( and soon 2005 ) can be labeld old

sims 2 kotor 2 kotor 1 are all 10 years or older

i dont consider ass creed to be old quite yet but its getting there

though it probably also has to do with the graphics
sims 2 morrowind kotor 2 they feel old they do not look cutting edge any more they look good but still quite artificial
a product of their time

ass creed on the other hand ..well the games bleed over in to each other 3 looks slightly better then 1 btu the differences are huge the graphical performance is plateauing there arent any huge leaps any more

there isnt a wow factot from going from thes nes to the ps1 to the n64 to the dreamcast to the ps2 anymore
( yes i am a console gamer and ? ;p )
these days there si some extra blood a higher resolution and some better graphical fidelity
horjay !

...im gonna play sims 2 or bloodlines
I'm fucking stupid ignore this
