You can't find it because it's not there. FDM works fairly well if you have a stable connection. But as you say the downloads do have tendency to fail from time to time, and because the downloads have a time limit you cannot resume them. So FDM doesn't really solve the problem for those with unstable connections.

But you could try checking your timeout and number of simultaneous downloads settings in FDM. Do now download more than than your simultaneous downloads, as any download over that limit will not start, and the link will expire.

FDM seems to work fine to download games, but not the bonus material. For the bonuses I've been using Firefox's DownloadThemAll add-on which seems to work. It's a little annoying as I use Chrome for my regular browser and Firefox for Uni (as the Uni site isn't compatible with Chrome) so I have to switch between the two. No big deal ,but looking forward to that downloader being fixed!

Thank man, yea all I want to do is download sanatirum and play some old school adventure game with some nerd friends in my free time. Not often you can find people to do this in the real world. GOG has been really nice, old stable games that run on the old equipment we have. JUST FIX THE DOWNLOADER GUYS!

If you don't want to use an ad supported downloader, download a modern browser (such as IE9) that has an integrated download manager which allows one to pause and resume downloads.

The problem is that the link expires after 1 minute, so no resuming after that on any download manager without manually getting a new download link and replacing that in the download manager (if it supports doing that; don't know if IE9 does).

To be honest, I'm not sure either. All I know is that my internet connection is intermittent, but I haven't had the problems I had before using the downloader since I installed IE9.

It's worth a shot if anyone is suffering problems in any case.

Not sure why you would have problems with bonus content using FDM. I downloaded my whole collection over the last couple of days using FDM and running 10 downloads at a time. Had a few failures but I'd 80% of downloads worked first time.

I apologies in advance should my question come across as silly, but I'm not the most clued up person when it comes to these things...

I downloaded FDM, everything seemed to be going great, then about 16% into my Baldurs Gate download it stopped.
I keep getting the error: "Connection with the server was lost" which is different to the "Access Denied" error mentioned.
Never the less, I still tried replacing the URL exactly as per instructions & it makes no difference in this case, same error "connection with the server was lost" keeps cropping up & the download wont resume :(

Whats up with that? Are GOGs servers down or what? Am I doing something wrong here?

Anyways, hopefully this hasn't already been asked, but wouldn't it be possible/better if a private tracker was set up so the "downloader" could be any torrent client? Resumable downloads, less strain on their servers, separate torrents for just the game, extra content and both and even add a link of the "owned games" page which gives you the torrents for all the games you own in one archive (zip, for example) and maybe a separate one for just games you have just brought..

Not particularly familiar with private trackers, so any reason why this wouldn't be the ideal solution?

While I can't say I have the solution to your problem, I could suggest a workaround. If you have Firefox get the DownloadThemAll expansion and when you go to download your games right click on the link and choose to download them with DTA. This has worked perfectly for me thus far, and you're able to pause and resume downloads so it's great if you have a shaky connection.

EDIT: Ok, now my own workaround seems to no longer work and I've had to get Internet Download Manager but I've no idea if that'll work at the download is only at 17% and I've already had to restart twice.

GOG, can we PLEASE get and up-dated ETA of when the new downloader will be ready as this is getting ridiculous!

At the very least, can we get a response from GOG? Just a "hey, we hear you, we're working on it."

Exactly. Not a big ask to get some kind of indication from them about what the go is with the DLer.

Exactly, I understand it may be a difficult and long process to get the D'loader working with every game, I don't expect it to be done over night even though I'm one of the people who can't download games without it but a simple update that they are still working on it or have they simply given up on it would be appreciated, until I hear that I cannot justify buying the rest of the games I want if I may not be able to download them.

Well said. And what's more now IDM is having trouble as I had to stop the download this morning and new, a few hours later, iIDM is trying to find a new address to resume the file (this worked perfectly previously) and the GOG site is taking FOREVER to load so IDM can't find the addy. ARGH!

I swear, if GOGs customer service isn't fixed up quick smart they will have lost a customer!

While I'm not affected by this (never had a need for the downloader), I agree the lack of communication from GoG is disturbing. While it might not warrant a whole new position, they might want to consider setting aside an hour or two a day to go through forums and respond to the hottest topics.

Or, for that matter, allowing a few volunteers to gather up items that should be responded to and forwarding those directly to a GoG'er. Either way, they need a better community presence. Solve it how they like, but they really should solve it.
