If you just take a glance at the comments on various torrents you'll see just how stupid they are (how doi open rar filez guys?!?! please help!!!!1, whats an iso and how do i make it install!?, the download is going slow! this is ridiculis!).

Yes, there are retards everywhere. But probably especially on Torrent sites, as the whole point of a console is having a controlled system, so almost the only kind of console people you can find on Torrent sites are those who don't know that. On the other hand, since the PC is an open platform, you'll probably find many kinds of PC people there.
I'm (primarily) a console gamer. All of my friends who play games (except one), have by now switched to consoles (actually, one console: PS3 :) ). Does that mean that our IQ has suddenly dropped?

It was a popular console with a keyboard (google is your friend). Also, in the early 80s we all play games on computer with joysticks. Trying to define what is a console based on input devices is a mistake.

As the discussion was about general principles, I didn't think to check that there wasn't a single exception from 1978. And yes, we used joysticks on our computers. We still do. We also used keyboards and mice. We still do. On a PC, you use the right tool for whatever job you need done. It's versatile.
But hey, you may be right that it isn't the best definition, but what is? I suppose if you cut down to the core of the matter, a console is a device designed specifically to play games, while a PC is designed to do pretty much anything you can think of, including playing games.
