Theta_Sigma: Hmm, I found a copy of Doom 2 but it's only the shareware edition and it's MP is non existent for some reason. :(

hedwards: I've give you my copy,, but it's about 9k miles away right now, and it would be a bit of a pain.
No worries, I may get one via other means. A local pawn shop here sells tonnes of old console and PC games, they will likely have a copy of Doom 2 as I got a copy of Wing Commander 4 there for dirt cheap. Oh, how I love pawn shops. :P Thanks for the thought none the less though, man. :)
Quake 2: Capture the Flag - Railguns Only.

I think I wasted a good 2 years of my life playing this on HEAT.net. This was the pinnacle of multiplayer shooters and will always be in my opinion.

If you're looking for something else...I can't really think of anything else. Everyone has suggested all the FPS' I used to play.

I'm quite confident that you can use any source port such as ZDoom or even the official (if old) Doom 95 for LAN play, even if you only have the shareware episodes. I remember putting my original DOOM2.WAD file into the folder of the shareware version of Doom 95 and the LAN play worked without any issues. I think it should also work with any shareware version's WAD files.

Awesome, that's good to hear, I'll look for ZDoom in a bit. I actually have FreeDOOM on my laptop. THANK YOU LINUX REPOSITORIES! ^_^

Just remembered - you can always play Warsow (available for free, also here on GOG). Haven't played it in ages but IIRC it's oldschool deathmatch madness at its best. Don't know what other modes and features were added since then but the screenshots suggest that it has gone a long way.

Good point, I forgot I had that on my list. I broke down and splurged a little from my savings to get UT2004, after Riddick finishes downloading I'll get it too.

Good job, you won't regret it :) BTW, my favourite way of playing was capture the flag, me and my buddies versus bots if there weren't enough of us.

Awesome, I look forward to downloading it :). I always liked capture the flag. That and sniping are my biggest skills in MP games. Remember kids...a smart man knows when it's time to RUN LIKE A LITTLE BITCH!

Theta_Sigma: snip
Yup, as other people have said the UTs are some of the best FPSs for multi. While '04 is good fun, especially with some vehicular carnage, I still prefer the original UT most of the time.

Awesome, I'll look to grab a that and a couple of more when I have money. I really don't have the cash to get any more games till next pay. But, I appreciate the suggestions for when I do. I want to get that and Rise of the Triad (I loved that game when it first came out) especially.
