Hello all fellow gogites...goglodytes...umm whatever we call ourselves! :D As the title suggests I am looking for suggestions for FPS (no not Frames Per Second!). I currently have a selection on GOG (which I shall list at the bottom, as well as Steam), however, I would be interested in suggestions from fellow members as to which would be most preferable for a LAN party.

As it would be for a LAN party, I'd much rather not use titles on Steam due to possible lack of an internet connection, AND I would rather GOG as it would almost ensure something I can run on my Laptop in Wine/DosBox/etc... and I rather not lug my Lanboy Air out as it weighs a tonne. The suggestions can either be from what I list OR even a possible suggestions from the GOG library. Also, with the titles being of GOG means that copies wouldn't cost an arm and a leg for anyone wanting to join the LAN party (though it's mostly mates I've known for years).

I picked FPS' due to the fact unlike a group RPGs it would be relatively easy to get a game going with little set up time. I welcome all suggestions, as it would help me narrow down a couple to a few games to have available for any given mood. Thank you ahead of time. :)

What I currently possess is:

GOG:
Duke Nukem 3D
Painkiller Black Edition
Postal (I know it's a bit of a cheat but oh well)
Postal 2
Judge Dredd
Redneck Rampage (Not sure if it's still LAN capable I haven't tested it yet)

Steam:
Black Mesa
Borderlands 1 + 2
Brink
Counter-Strike: Source
Crysis 2 (I have 1 on disc)
Duke Nukem Forever
Left 4 Dead 2 (1+2 on Xbox)
Lost Planet 2
RAGE
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. CoP and SoC
Team Fortress 2

DOOM3 (on disc but I still figured I'd list it)

I do have a few more than that, and I only listed other sources as an example of things I have in my collection. There are way more games than that but I figured I'd just list ones that had multi-player capability. Again, for ease of install and play just suggestions either from what I have or if there are better in the library please do feel free to suggest. :) Thanks again all who read this, and have a good one.
One FPS that I know of that is excellent for LAN parties is Unreal Tournament 2004. Source: my own personal experience with the game at LAN parties I used to frequent.

One of the funnest mods/maps are the what I call Lazer Tag mod (everywone gets a lazer that kills in one shot :D) and the maps that were made to be a living room but really huge. Good times were had when you could run under a couch, hide in the dark space underneath, and just shoot at anyone one shotting them :D. Fun fact: the way the map was done or whether this was due to how the engine worked, you could hide under an object and remain unseen for anyone outside :D
I second the UT2004 recommendation. The LAN games usually devolve into this, though. :p
Games i did play quite a bit on lan parties some years ago:

found on gog:

UT99, Unreal Tournament GOTY (the first Unreal Tournament in the series. Playing on Jailbreak, mixed mode, Instagib, and sniper servers can be much fun)

Medal of Honor Warchest
Serious Sam first and second encounter (Co-op rocks)
Far Cry and Far Cry 2

found elsewhere:

Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Wolfenstein Enemy Territory (Free)

Enemy territory: Quake wars
Quake1 and 3
Alien Versus Predator
I only have one suggestion, BLOOD! That game is freaking fantastic and considering you have and hopefully enjoy Duke Nukem 3D, this game is a no brainer.
Unreal Tournament of course (being completely biased in opinion I dismiss all so called sequals :P )

Of course I could recommend installing a lot of mods too for extra awesomeness.
CTF4/MultiCTF
StrangeLove
League Assault
Chaos UT
U4EVA
Jailbreak
Headunter
Excessive UT
Siege (Thats a bit of a weird one, kinda FPS/Tower Defence/RTS I guess)
Monster Hunt
Survival
Head Hunters
BunnyTrack

Actually maybe you should just play lots and find out which you like best because there are so many. Afterall there is a reason my UT directory is 10.4GB in size :)

As for other FPS to recommend serious sam coop is fun and dunno about any of the others really haven't played LAN with those.
The only multiplayer games I've enjoyed were AvP (could be some tense hide-and-seek) and Nolf (especially if playing for fun more than for points). In both cases, I don't remember if it was 1 and/or 2.
You need UT2004. But I'd recommend getting it as a part of the Anthology editiion which is available elsewhere. A retail copy would be your best bet as the only DRM is the serial you need to have to play it online anyway. It's usually cheaper, comes with 3 of the previous Unreal games and you get a serial provided with it and thus don't have to contact GOG support to get it.
You might consider Rise of the Triad, I've heard that one is quite fun in multiplayer.

On GOG:
Medal of Honor
Warsow
SWAT 3

Not on GOG:
Quake 3 CPMA
I don't speak from experience, since I hardly ever play multplayer games. However, I loved the setting in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
If I were to try multiplayer, this one would be high on my list.
I recall XIII had enjoyable multi-player, for me anyhow. My friends and I used to play Counter-Strike a LOT pre-Steam, but nowadays I can't tolerate waiting up to 4 minutes for a round to finish to get back into the game. Lately I prefer FPSs with game modes that throw you right back in after you die and with smaller maps, which is one of the things I like about XIII. Plus I like the diversity of weapons and the overall feel of the gameplay.
PAINKILLER!!!

Seriously, if you're into fast, brutal oldschool deathmatch it doesn't get much better than Painkiller. Especially the stake gun defines the gameplay. Whereas in most shooters you start out with a total crap weapon and have to find a better weapon fast here you start out with a highly powerful one which is hard to use, though. The projectiles are comparably slow, they fly in arcs but in return each hit gives you a feeling of satisfaction that... let's say you should at least buy the game some dinner afterwards. Really great stuff.

And as the others already wrote - UT2004 is pretty much the ultimate LAN FPS. With its many game modes, different weapons and possible customizations the game does not ever get boring.

I actually have DN3D on the original disc as well though I can't remember if I had the expansions which is a reason I got it on GOG. I have Blood and Hexen still on original discs as well.

Awesome thanks for the heads up about UT2004, I'll likely grab that when I get some cash, unless someone wants to help a brother out? LOL j/k :P Actually I still have the original Unreal on disc somewhere, I loved that game. I always meant to get U2 but unfortunately I was always short on cash. I read good things about UT99 and 2004 but I ended up getting Painkiller instead (stupidly before I asked this question).

Thanks again everyone. :)
