Since the op is from the USA why not just use paypal? Makes it a hell of a lot easier. :)

Paypal IS an option currently, so there really isn't a problem that I can see.
I do agree with you that ALL online purchases are subject to "Caveat Emptor" - you cannot predict the kind of problems everyone can have with their many, many banks all over the world. That's just how it is.
However, I do not feel the GOG crew should make any special "notice" about this "problem" because it's not a problem - it's ONE bank in ONE country that has a policy that subtracts another buck.
If we need to put up disclaimers for every little detail that becomes inane really quick. If anything they should make a "We are not responsible for any special fees your bank may impose on the payment" and let it go at that. Then it really is up to each person to make sure they know the deal they have with their bank.

I get charge 3% for international purchase (I paid additional 20 Australian cents for a game) I need to check what is the maximum charge.
but OP your bank sux. if you plan to do a lot of purchases via net from foreign places go to the bank and demand lift on charges. if they say no get a new card from different bank.

it seems like a fair point to have a "you may get charged" warning.
Though i can't help but gloat a little... its kinda nice to have to boot on the other foot for people in the US... i've lost track of the number of times i've been to websites, put stuff in the basket, and gone to checkout, only to discover that they only deliver to the US.
(something they usually only put in the small print in the shipping section of the FAQ, if at all. )
Or the number of times i've read about a cool service, gone to sign up, only to find at the last stage that it isn't available (or products on it aren't available) in my country. (Steam, Gametap, Joost, Hulu, Mint, etc...)
Nothing personal, original poster... i'm just liking that its not me for once.

Thanks for pointing this out, OP (but please refrain from cursing on our forums).
I added the appropriate information to the Website Help page, after consulting it with Destro. It should be enough of a "warning" for future customers about any additional charges which are out of our control.
It wasn't just one bank in one country, but we've gotten only a handful of reports about such international fees, so the notification had to wait in line while Support and the Devs were busy with other things. I hope you guys understand. :)
On the bright side I have never heard from a customer who was charged by GOG.com for more than was stated in his checkout window. :)

Didn't have any extra charges on my credit card here. Its a chase card if that matters. I do know a few years back when my then girlfriend and I ordered a couple of rings from a company in Canada we got hit with such a fee when we used our debit card to pay for it. (didn't have a credit card at that time) If I remember right it was something like twenty five cents.

May i suggest another form of payment that does not charge "extra/hidden" fees?
Why don't you guys at GOG try and make a deal to accept paysafecards check the wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paysafecard)

The form of payment (credit/debit) doesn't charge extra or hidden fees, it's the bank. Besides that, Paypal is already in place.

Yes but in this way you don't need a debit/credit card, a bank account or anyone that wants to have it's "financial data" around on the web. I guess that it is even easier and more pratical that than using paypal. But thats's just my 2cents.

I agree that there should be info that this company is not located in the U.S. I too was surprised by the extra fee on my credit card. How about indicating where you are located in the "about us" page. I think there should be a warning during checkout about the possibility of an international fee as well. I did find where you mention it in the help pages, but it was not easy to find.

I am sorry to drag this old post up but as a "new" customer that recently bought quite a few games, I am quite PISSED that Gog.com does not warn about this ON THE CHECKOUT PAGE.

From your post it sounds like you're aware that your bank charges foreign transaction fees. If that's the case, why are you angry with GOG?

Also, GOG has a ling to the ToU on every single page - how is it GOG's fault that you didn't bother to read them?
