After my first purchase from GoG.com and 4 days later, a $0.06 charge showed up on my bank ledger. It came across as a "Foreign Transaction Fee" and it was labeled as a 'Fee' by my bank (not a regular purchase)
Is this normal? Is GoG.com U.S. based? My bank was of no help (they actually thought it was google) and said to contact the website. I wrote an email but hadn't heard back.
Just wondering if everyone else experiences this, or just me?
thanks!

GoG is in Poland and if there'S some kind of problem, look for it in your bank - this problem was mentioned here several times (I'll add searched links when I find them) - GoG won't charge more than it states on page with game
For example :D

GOG is based in Poland, but their servers reside in Cyprus while their billing is handled out of Britain and they charge in US dollars. The fee was not imposed by GOG at all, it was totally your bank.
Gog.com is not US. Its in Poland ( I believe ) or at least Europe :)
As for the transaction fee I guess it depends what cards you were using and how you paid?
I always get an extra charge, but that is because I use VISA and they want their share of the pie for allowing me to pay through them.
Edit: Hehe, three quick replies in a row :D Lucky three its in Poland ;)

Actually, GoG is legally based in Cyprus. Licensing laws and such.
The fees are normally added by banks in tough times such as these to try and bleed some extra money for themselves. It is a cheap trick, and it's only your bank to blame for it.
The bank/credit card I used to buy games off here doesn't give me a charge, so it depends on how greedy your bank it. (Citi seems nice, even though they get bailouts.)
But really, it's just 6 cents. Does it matter?

Where are you located? Maybe like fenixp said, you bank makes those charges for "foreign transactions". Although I doubt thats the case. Ive noticed that usually, in digital download buys, any extra surprise charge at checkout time or later, is imposed not the customer's bank, but by the digital store itself. I have bought several games from GOG, and my account was only charged what they specified, not a 0.01$ more. Same when i bought a game from Impulse. On Steam, nonetheless, i got an additional $1 charge for each game i bought, which Valve says it's for "verification" purposes, and when they are "verified" youre legit they refund you that 1$·. That shows the level of interest and knowledge Valve has about the different transaction systems in the world. For a refund to be "allowed", it needs them to actually do it, and in my case, they didnt refund me the $1 verification charge. And its just impossible to get Valve to listen to you with their support tickets. So thats why im not buying anything from Steam again. They just assume the rest of the planet works like the USA does.
Just do it with PayPal.They only will verify your account once when you link your account, and they'll refund it anyway.

I hate paypal. Often, they refuse to allow a transaction from my account "for security purposes". It's a well known "system feature" of them. It's well documented all over the web, the way their system automatically just halts any transaction for no reason, periodically, to protect the integrity of their system. The transaction nuking criteria is secret, and no one, apparently including the people who work at paypal customer service, knows what that deicision making criteria is. Ballocks. I f**** loath them. My account is legit, I am not trying to scam anyone, and I dont care that millions of other people do. I couldnt pay for several items on ebay because of that. Nowadays I pay directly with my CC. Screw paypal.
Wow! ok, thanks for the quick response, I did try to search the forums and didn't get any good results w/ my keywords.
Yeah, I was definitely using my Visa Checking/Debit Card and I'm in Houston, Texas. It was also wierd that some Visa verify popped up w/ my bank logo and asked if I wanted to opt in, I chose not to, maybe this would avoid the fee...
but I do have paypal, so I'll look into that...(thanks michaelleung)
I have a Master Card debit card and I get charged a $1 for every GOG transaction since I am in the U.S.
