paladin181: It's not a BAD game per se, but it's not a great game either. It's something I bought for $7.50 and it was worth that. But to me, not much more. I put maybe 15 hours into it, but couldn't finish it. And Durante's GeDoSaTo is necessary for the screen resolution fix.

menganogog: Good day everyone.

Few days ago I saw in Humble Store Final Fantasy XIII had been released on PC. I haven't played a Final Fantasy game for any years and I think maybe it could be a good chance since the game is on sale for 6,49 euros. My questions are: is it a good game? How is the story, music, characters? Do it worth?

I do this questions because I've heard it's a extremely linear game, but this point is not necessary a bad point for me if it has a worth story to tell me in change. The last Final Fantasy game for me was X in ps2 ( I've play VII, VIII, XIX, and X).

I don't like specially jrpgs or anime style but Final Fantasy saga were my first incursion with some kind or rpg before know other rpg games and I'd like to remind old times so I'd like to hear what you think about FFXIII.

Another point, a friend told me he bought VII and VIII PC version and he needed to register a Square Enix account. I'm not a fan of DRM and I hate to create a SE account since Steam it required . FFXIII need this SE account too?

It'd be great have classics Final Fantasy here on GOG someday :)

Thanks you very much in advance.
In my opinion, the only way this game is still selling is the FF name. If it was just called "Lightning" or something, it would have disappeared into the ether a long time ago, much less spawned two sequels. I certainly wouldn't pay more than $5 for this game, on any platform, unless the only thing you like about rpgs is the grind.

Edit: the only reason I have played this to the end is my brother bought it for me for christmas (at full price I might add). It still makes me sad that he payed so much for it.

I've played some games where the battles are enjoyable (like Magna Carta) I don't mind the grind, but that's all there really is to this game.

i rather like ff 4 so far
probably because there is no weeaboo animu bullshit
no emo wangtsy spikey teenagers and no godawfull amount of 40 minute melodramatic cutscenes that go nowhere
I played this game on the Xbox 360 several years ago, and I must assure you that I completed it *only* because I wanted to destroy it with my words by addressing every-single-point of its awfulness each time somebody asked my opinion.
It is one of the very worst games I have ever had the misfortune to play, and I still use it today as a comparison for other bad games. It has become a real standard of dreadfulness!
CrAAAppy game, if there has ever been one! I would even dare to say that it is like Dragon Age II combined with the a narrative quality worthy of the ending of Mass Effect 3... only, if I really said this, I would probably insult those two latter titles.

I remember that Jim Sterling wrote a review about FF13 using very appropriate words: if you are interested, here's the link.

still too kind a review
i wouldnt even rate it that high
71% positive on Steam

It recently got an official patch for graphics options on PC (at launch was a PoS, Durante saved the day as usual)

And since it's cheap, why not? Also you will be supporting the launch of FF XV on PC.
3, 4, 13 and 13-2 are shit, 8 is not great, but can be made better with a sound mod. FF on PC is pretty much the avoid zone.

FFIV on PC is just a port of the DS version I already have. It's pretty cool to see it get some voice and 3d graphics that aren't great, but not horrid either. The game feels dated still, but not in a bad way. And Cecil is plenty emo and whiny during the game right until he makes his big change. But it's still a decent game and of they brought FF VI to PC like that I'd snap it up in a heartbeat.
