realkman666: For some reason. I'd probably play those on emulators before getting the chibi bullshit.
they were pretty super deformed even then

the Ds versions are kinda bobble head but not as horrible as the overworld character models in ff 7
realistic on the battle screen
deformed blobs in the rest of the game
Wow, I see an almost unanimous opinion about the game. I was watching some gameplays and actually It seems like a very self-widing game. It's like the player only has to hold the pad or mouse...and watch cinematics and push buttons to head on. That's part is clear to me. About combat, I haven't a clear opinion, but it seems very simple and of little strategic (how I said that's only my opinion based in some gameplays so I can have a wrong idea about it).

I have to clarify this "mistakes" are not enough for me if the game offers a good plot and characters...but how I'd readed they aren't the best...

After that, I've decided not playing it at the moment, but don't dismiss play it in a future when I have more time (I haven't much so I prefer to play a more profitable game) because how some of you said, I must to decide by my own and each player must to find his own point of view, but opinions are welcome. I'd decided to play this holidays Divinity: Original Sin (I know this kind of rpg is extremely opposed but very attractive to me) and thanks to the Square Weekend Sale I'm thinking to buy Thief:Deadly Shadows, has an excellent price right now.

It'll be great to have classic FF on GOG in a near future and play again some of the best games I'played: FF VII, VIII or IX if it'll release on PC too.

Finally, express my gratitude for your participation and to clarify some points about the game. You're a very kind community :)

no that is pretty much the gist of it
walk ina straight line trigger battle
or cut scene
or boss battle

rinse and repeat for 60 fucking hours

and the story makes no sense the characters are flat and listless ff13 is an abomination that should be avoided

if you really want to play an final fantasy on the pc let it be 4 7 or 8

or if you have a playstation 3 5 6 7 and 8 maybe 9 too

Every single fight literally consists in this series of actions (in this precise order): buff, debuff, attack with magic to increase the stagger bar, attack with warriors once the bar is full, defend when the "big attack" arrives, heal. Repat, repeat, repeat. NO enemy can be defeated without adopting this pattern, and you will never need to use your brain to overcome a challenge: either your level is high enough and you win, or it is not and you die.

Trust me, avoiding FFXIII was the right decision! :)
