I've tried COUNTLESS times to get into playing the original series. I own the three-pack UK release that I got imported through Amazon. However, I loved Fallout 3. Call me an idiot, blasphemer, Bethesda fanboy, whatever, I enjoyed 3 mainly because it is so similar to Oblivion. And, yes, I own it on the 360. Sue me.

Wishbone: Definitely! Oh man, I want to play Dungeon Keeper so bad right now :-(

Fenixp: It's contageous

it's also missing from GOG! Can somebody rectify that ASAP please?

hey I own it and love it on the 360 and I own & love the rest of the series from GOG. I think 3 is a worthy successor to the series and whilst I'd have liked it to have a full turn based option (the backpedalling whilst building up your action points got tiresome if you didnt get a kill), I still like it the way it is.
I've tried to influence a few of the 360 players over on xbox360achievements.org to try the older ones, posted a link to the GOG rpg selection. Probably won't do anything but you never know

EA owns the license, so my guess would be "no". :-(

EA has FAR too many good old games on its books that don't see the light of day. I would hope that GoG can convince them to allow them on here, since they don't want to make new ones, or whatever EA is sitting on them for.

They're sitting on them because they're the 500 pound gorilla....doing whatever it wants. Or they are just extremely asinine....

And foolish. Considering their usual money-grubbing ways, they are missing a golden opportunity to make some basically free money, off stuff they have lying around in their basement, so to speak.

They are far too busy exploiting their latest IPs rather than mucking about with their more antiquated acquisitions. EA is all about the newest thing and the amount of hype it can generate. Besides, a corporation as big as EA doesn't care about thousands of dollars; they only want the millions. Most of their executives have probably either A) don't care about the other properties they have B) don't know about what they have and C) have probably never played any game whether new or old.

Barelyhomosapien: This is something that has been on my mind for awhile. I personally enjoy Fallout 3 quite a bit. Most of the people I know do aswell. I don't think it's perfect, but I love wandering the wasteland and creating characters with a set personality and backstory. I like it because I can actually roleplay to a degree instead of being spoonfed a story and only getting the RPG feel from levelling and stats.
Not to mention that there are no elves in sight.
Now I've played both the original fallouts, and I like them both for much the same reasons as I just stated for the 3rd.
What I don't get, and my question to people out there is pretty much the topic subject. Why do the Fallout die hards hate it so much? I just don't get why at all. I mean sure, there is no game made that everyone enjoys but Fallout 3 seems like such a labour of love to me. From reading the dev blogs, to the details in the game I think they tried their very best to modernise the franchise while staying as true to it as they could.
Is it because they modernised it?
Is it because it uses an upgraded oblivion engine and has moments of feeling a bit like oblivion that you just can't ignore?
Please don't flame me! I'm really just curious as to why the fallout heavies damn it so much when my own experience, and the experiences of others I know have been so positive.

It's because for a game to be liked it needs to be a good game [/bias]
