I feel the same about the weapons and the regenerating health. They are not deal breakers for me though so I'll keep my preorder. What I played was fairly fun and it seems to have the right attitude. I kind of felt the guns didn't feel powerful either. Maybe its just me but the shotgun in duke 3d feels alot more powerful then the gun in this demo.

What I meant to say was, "you play with a pad?"

Aningan: Hmmm, I bought Borderlands about a month or two ago on Steam, it said First Access Club but no mail in my email. Well it's not like it's been on my most wanted list, so whatever.
In Steam right click Borderlands, and select CD keys. You should see your DNF FAC code there.

Yes? Why not it's not like I need the number keys to select weapons is it?

If Borderlands is not installed you will find the key link on the details page, it won't show up in the right-click menu.

I'll try it when I get home. Thanks.
It seems fine.
It’s far from bad, it’s not mind-blowing or anything like that. It’s Duke Nukem with moderned (that is a word) up shooting game mechanics. So it depends how you feel about re-generating health and such.

Demo seems to be a good mix of stuff; it probably shows off the game much better than some demos I’ve come across. For those who don't currently have accesses, it's nothing that hasn't been shown off already. I'm not when or if the demo will become available to everyone.

So yeah, a thumbs up from me, at least I believe I'll find it enjoyable enough.
Ok so I finished the demo... and what can I say... my first reaction after it was : It's a joke right ?

I mean I didn't had very high expectation, but I wasn't expecting that. I really hope that the demo is nothing like the finished product.

The first thing I noticed was the graphics... it looks like a 2005 games, heck it reminded me of Vivisection the first level of the demo is "ok" but the second one... low resolution texture, low poly model... I restarted the demo twice to make sure I wasn't stuck in low details mode.

But then again graphics aren't everything the most important is the gameplay itself.

But even gameplay wise I am very far from convinced, the first level ok, I get that it's just an introduction/tutorial level, probably just here to show us that we can use the urinal and turn on/off faucets, the boss fight is all but exciting but then again it's fine it's just the introduction level.

But the second level, well, the driving sequence is nothing special, not "bad" but not something we haven't already seen 2000 time before, the rest of the level... once again I really hope that the rest of the game is not like that.

The rhythm is anemic, two enemies appear, you shoot them twice, you wait without moving for the next two to appear and run towards you and shoot them too, if you got hit just side step behind a rock for 10 seconds to let you EGO regenerate and continue.... I mean DN3D was no Serious Sam but it was still a nervous FPS, you had to run, strafe, etc... here walk, shoot, wait for your EGO regenerate and repeat.

The last part of the level is playing a little with the physic engine by using mining cart... which might have been ground breaking if the game was released before Farcry...

I don't know what Gearbox was thinking, it's supposed to be the demo of an highly anticipated games, at least among older gamers, they could have put a little more effort into it, chose some more interesting level with some real fights and also make it longer, here the demo is not only very short but you only spend 20% of the play time fighting.

In conclusion, before I was slightly worried about the game... after the demo I am very worried.
The game is good...so it has regen health...so what? If you don't like it don't hide & go guns akimbo.

And as for the weapon limit....as I said before: If they allow all weapons in without balancing the game will be too easy.

I liiked the demo myself. Had a weird graphical glitch on my new ATI card but that's only because I had my AA/AF forced to max in the ATI control panel for another game...setting them both to application controlled fixed it fine.

Your devotion really runs deep. You say big deal, I say they are duke specific design flaws. Will that ruin the game for me? I don't know. I have a few more weeks to wait to try the demo. We'll see. I hold out hope it'll be enjoyable but I'm concerned at this point.
Regenerating health is the deal breaker for me. It has no place in a Duke game.

It's a FPS not a RTS or a turn based strategy game what do you want to balance ? there is limited ammunition anyway it's not like you can play the whole game using only the strongest weapon.
