I must say, I somewhat approve of FraterPerdurabos idea. Some opinions are so poisonous that they shouldn't be accepted by a civilized community. And especially blalant racism and homophobia should have absolutely no room anywhere. And it's not like that this every other post made over the weekend was about gaming. So, while he was a subtle as a mace hitting a face, I'm good with it.

I oppose that sentiment. Amaericans and the US in general are very well received in Germany! We didn't like Bush, but so did most of the Americans. Just remember Obamas speech in Berlin.

Weren't you against censorship in one or two threads? Everybody has right to have as poisonous ideas as he likes. The moment when state should intervene is when they clrearly inciteing to comit a crime

for example: "Homosexuals are gay and homo!" is ok. But "Kill / beat / all homos!" is not.

Of course these are the rules in public places / debates. On GOG.com forums it's the owner who decides what can or cannot be said, because this is their property.

Simple, because were I come from human dignity is more important and overrules freedom of speech. Extreme "Hatespeech" is not protected, (neither are factual lies, btw). And I think that this is a good thing.

Because saying "racists, homophobic people are stupid / should be eradicated / are poisoning the society" is hatespeech as well.

So it's ok to hate people when you hate appropieate people?

Simple:

should be eradicated - hatespeech, denying any human the right to live is borderline to start with. Making that dependend on an opinion, no matter how wrong is hatespeech.

I'm not asking directly you (cause you explained it enough), because I could say that "hating" Republicans is so hip these days, like it was something to be ashamed to be Republican.

People forget that the most important factor in politics should be economics. Republicans are the only liberal economically party that I could name and that have significant amount of voters. In other countries it's rather socialists or christian-democratic or something

There are plenty liberals in Republican parties who don't "hate" about homosexuals, immigrants etc.

And I find it silly, when people choose their parties only driven by the factor "what they think about homosexuals".

Because I find it pretty hyprocitical when someone claims to be tolerant and then says "Society is diverse! You can be anybody you like unless you are this , that and this". Republicans are the same, but they are just straight (lol) about that.

I've always been with Simon about this. It's not 'hatred' to dislike people who are intolerant and racist. The contrary would lead to a ridiculous fallacy: "You hate me for hating black people, therefore you are intolerant."
