I like the circle icons, but there are plenty of resources online where people make their own icons for just about every game there is. There are good sets on iconarchive.com and DeviantArt.

joelandsonja: Although, I have a feeling GOG Galaxy will solve all of these problems. At least I hope it does.

montcer9012: I was thinking the same! In fact, i am a Steam user switching my self into GOG; i must admit DRM free is the most important feature for my prefference, but the lack of a client which manage my downloads, updates and other stuff kinda keep me into Steam, even they have DRM.

I ask GOG to be an Alpha tester for Galaxy, still waiting my invitation to download it and give a try, but no response yet :(

Anyway, i do believe the GOG Game client will solve this manner, and with some luck, attract more users into GOG!
I am very much looking forward to GOG Galaxy, but I do wish we could see some of the screenshots, or a video demonstrating the capabilities of the software. Either way I look forward to seeing it released!
I don't like the circle icons either and I've changed a few as a result. There are some games that it works well with, like Baldur's gate and System Shock 2, but for the most part the circle icons are quite fugly.

(Not a fan of the game-cover icons either for that matter).

Here's a few example of some good icons:

The Witcher
Minecraft
Freedom Force

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Note how the last is a circular icon but works well. That's because it's an easily recognizable and simple symbol. Contrast that with the GOG icon for, say, Torchlight, which has a bunch of characters in it but they're so small you can barely understand what the icon even depicts.

Since my last post i get my Galaxy invitation code, so i am using it and is very promising! As expected, the icons are like a rectangle according to a list of your games, or a grip of images.

Once installed, they remain like a rectangle. However, if you Alt+Tab the game, you can notice in Windows TaskBar that the game executable still have the ugly circle icon hahaha. However, i think is a progress. I would like to post some screenshots but Venom ask (saying please and all) to avoid do such things because the final release of the APP will be different from the Alpha version.
I remember that some old game executables had multiple icons inside, selectable through a link.
Can't GOG simply provide both old and new ones like that?

Mmmmm, could be, but Windows only will load primary icon which have to be the square classic one we are used to hahaha. I think the people who uses the circle icons are minority.

(GOG Galaxy client icon is circle... It seems GOG team loves those icons hahahaha)

I had asked, and the answer was no, but I'm not sure if Thiev was the right person to ask. And the icons GOG provides (both old and new) do have multiple images in them, though the difference is the size. Biggest image is 256x256.

You still can sign up to be an AlphaTester, just enter here, read the instructions so you can be aware of what you are going to expect and what to do in case any bug came out.

Remember, Alpha goes before Beta, so please read Venom instructions to know better the Galaxy tests.

Thanks for the info, but I think I'll leave it as a surprise for now.

Also, I really wouldn't know what to do when testing Galaxy ... =)

Erase and install all the games you own on the ways you can so the client gets really frustrated. That's the way to found bugs i think.
