What exactly makes the PC version worse than the Console version?
I played both the 360 version and the PC version for about 100 hours.
The framerate doesn't drop below 30 fps if your PC is good enough. If it isn't you will have drops in the framerate at the same points the console version has because the engine is poorly optimized for particle effects but if your PC isn't total crap it still doesn't drop as bad as the console version and is overall more consistent. The graphics are even slightly better by default because of the added anti-aliasing. Then there is the netcode it is kind of crap but so is it on the console versions. I'm pretty sure its the exact same as the 360 version because they could use the 360s code with GFWL hence the use of it for the game. What gave people more problems on the PC version is
1. There where less people overall playing than there where at the beginning with the console versions.
2. They where all beginners but unlike with the console verisons had informations on how online works but still made basic mistakes like passing through a fog gate while waiting for invaders or waiting for getting summoned.
The only thing that is left is the bad Keyboard and Mouse controlls. Which are only an issue if you actually use them and not a controller. Which gives you the exact same controls as you have on console and people that have played long enough with them said, that they got used to the KB&M controls quite well after a while and its not like you actually need some time to get used to the controls in general.
Then there is the mod. Which isn't a big hassle its just copying a file in the game directory and editing it a bit if you want different settings and it does way more than allowing different resolutions. It also allows better anti-aliasing, ambient occlusion, higher resolution for the DoF effect, aditional blur in the DoF effect because it gets to clear with higher resolutions, automatic AA disabling if your FPS fall below a set value, Supersampling, HUD scaling and transparency for HUD, Borderless Fullscreen, custom textures, intro skipping and screenshots.
I would say it was a bare minimum port without the mod and with it it became a nearly port that is better than most others and I when I chose which version is the best I don't care who gives me the content that makes it the best version. Whether it is a modder or the developer has no impact on how much I will enjoy the end product more than other versions of it.
It has an impact on how I view the work of the developer.
About the online beeing better on console, here is a discussion from the Xbox version which is about the exact same problems the PC version has:
