G-Doc: Look, guys - I don't know how to put it simpler to leave no room for confusion. The game will be available to KS backers for now, but without the online multiplayer component. The full public GOG.com release is planned for August 31, as our online platform GOG Galaxy should be up to support it by then.

Piranjade: Why would you not sell the game until then? If we kickstarter backers can use direct IP and stuff for multiplayer, so can the rest of the GOG customers.
And then we switch to the optional GOG Galaxy client later if we want to.
Yeah ... seriously.

G-Doc: Yes, I am being serious. As I said - to the best of my knowledge, the build should have been made accessible to the KS backers by 5PM GMT today. I haven't read the thread, I admit, and for that I am sorry, but to my defense I had a really busy day, week, month, I'm tired and this is late evening for me. I thought the problem was mainly the fact I missed the part about full release date.

I have contacted our product department and I've been told that there's been even more delay than I expected, but the build should be up in about 30 minutes.

I'm very sorry for your stress. Now, that I understand what the actual problem is, I can imagine how you must feel - not being able to start playing the game you're probably as anxious to get your hands on as I am.

I'll let you know as soon as I get the notice the build is up.
So it WILL be tonight sometime for definate?.. THANK YOU.

See? when we get answers, that is inclined to belay our bad feeliongs.

The way they chose to handle this, is really a mystery. And it seems that I can't argue against the folks that are pissed. Releasing 2 full months later? Are they serious?? By the time it gets released here the game will be on sale everywhere else.

And what part of the optional Galaxy we didn't understand?

I'm still not sure why the game isn't available right now. Isn't the client fully optional? Even if it isn't...what about simply playing singleplayer? Why can't we do that? *confused*

Making people wait for Galaxy isn't cool, really. The thing about Galaxy is that it's meant to be optional and only intended to be used if you want achievements and if you want online functionality. You shouldn't make people wait for that. There are a people who want to play Original Sin who aren't interested in Galaxy - I'm one of them, but at least I'll get the backer version when Larian get their stuff together.

In the case of Original Sin, you are saying that Galaxy is not optional. I believe this defeats the point of everything Guillaume said about it during the conference.

This isn't the case (not that it makes me any happier), the full Galaxy supported release won't be until August 31st.. therefore no multiplayer til then (fucking abominable) but here will be some other halfassed version to potter about with until then.

That is nice.
But do you realise that many if not most backers have not received their GOG keys and cannot get them either? And that Larian will not solve that problem before tomorrow (they said so on their kickstarter page).

I wish there would be some proper explanation as to why this public release seems that it MUST wait for the optional client.

As for the comments about the client not being optional for some games then yes there is the option as to whether to buy the game or not but it kinda ceases to be optional if the option is buy the game and use the client or dont.

You know I actually though GOG would be able to behave and not pull this kind of shit but it seems I was wrong. Dont misunderstand, a lot of this can be put at Larians feet but GOG gone dropped the ball and fucked up again IMO.
