G-Doc: Yes! I edited this post so many times that somehow the expected date for the launch (a Galaxy-supported launch, mind you), that is August 31, somehow got lost. Sorry about that.
WTF?!?
G-Doc, what is it you're trying to say?
Please try to exlain the situation in short , easy sentences.
When will D:OS by available for kickstarter backers on GOG?
When will the rest of the world be able to buy and play D:OS on GOG?

jamyskis: I think what G-Doc made a piss-poor attempt at trying to convey is that Divinity: Original Sin's GOG Galaxy support will be launching on 31 August, but the game itself will be launching tonight or tomorrow, sans online play for the time being.

reaver894: I hope that is the case. (i have my doubts)

Maybe he will be polite enough to actually confirm or deny this
Look, guys - I don't know how to put it simpler to leave no room for confusion. The game will be available to KS backers for now, but without the online multiplayer component. The full public GOG.com release is planned for August 31, as our online platform GOG Galaxy should be up to support it by then.

I'm not sure about the Sunday thing. May wait for Monday, September 1st, or go with Friday, August 29. For all we know, Sunday release is also a possibility.

OdanUrr: Did I read that correctly? D:OS is releasing on GOG August 31st?

Rincewind81: The Opening post now states that:
EDIT: The expected release date for this title is August 31, sorry for not communicating that properly.

I don't think that he is referring to the galaxy client as "This title". But a sunday release?
Seriously O_o 31st august for the game and Steam get it right now ?

It's like shooting on his feet. Release the game tomorrow and ad the Galaxy useless feature at the end of august.

Such a waste.

Thank you.

Finally a concrete answer with no real wriggle room.

So why wasn't the game available today as promised, and this confusion added to boot? Is Larian that incompetent that they can't send you a build or is it on your end?

Why would you not sell the game until then? If we kickstarter backers can use direct IP and stuff for multiplayer, so can the rest of the GOG customers.
And then we switch to the optional GOG Galaxy client later if we want to.

Perhaps you should have mentioned that in the original post. It is important information that was missing.

Ok.
But there's still no word when it will be available for KS backers.
The 'for now' part doesn't make sense.

And just one post later, wiggle room is found. ;-)

To the best of my knowledge Larian was to provide us with a build today, so the keys KS backers got from Larian can be activated. Hasn't this happen yet? I'll do my best to give you an update on that ASAP.
Ok, but then... Where is my dl? Redeemed my ks Code but no dl so far. Is ks release today or not?

That's simpler. Thanks. =)

I see the confusion.
Most people posting and complaining here ARE KS backers.
We've selected the GoG version on the Larian website, redeemed our codes, got an email we've redeemed the game, but haven't heard anything since.
Game is set to release today on both Steam and GoG and we're kept in the dark why the KS backers cannot download the game for which they have already redeemed their code.

You should have said that for the beginning, some poor folks have lost years of their lives.

Still not the best decision, I think. You guys will be losing sales, like everybody said. But I guess you know that more than I do. At least backers will get their games sooner.

Regional Pricing and/or Autopatches for the Steam Version.
