G-Doc: I'm sorry that I don't have better news for non-backers, as of today.
Laughable, as the steam version obviously works fine without the client that's not bad news for me but for you because I''ll just buy elsewhere

I d like an honest and clear explanation of why D OS was presented as a day one launch or preorder, then this has changed to being addressed with very conflicting information at the last minute. I woke early to begin downloading, and to be honest i still don t really have a concrete idea of when the gog release is. I don t really care about unavoidable delays, but having swallowed the hype, it s certainly annoying. I understand PR is asleep in poland right now, but when you wake up i d like a plain explanation.

thanks
So... what exactly is the deal with Galaxy here? Is it necessary to play the game, just for multiplayer, or will be fully optional? Sorry if this has already been explained, but the thread is so long now I'd go crazy reading it all to find the relevant, and confirmed info.

I don't mind the wait, having many games to play while waiting, but I do mind any such DRM-like things a lot.

-GOG keys will be sorted out tomorrow. I would like to say 2 things about this: up to last week the entire crew at Larian thought we were going to launch with Galaxy support and the only reason you can't redeem your GOG key is that your Steam key is in use. People who didn't use their Steam key can already redeem their GOG key.

Luned: This is from a post by Lar_q over on the Larian forums: So they both knew last week that the general release on GOG wasn't going to happen, and nobody bothered to say a word about it?!?
I would take this with a grain of salt, as the part I highlighted is inaccurate (if not an outright lie) for a good number of us. I never used any Steam key, yet I'm locked to one with no way to chose a GOG code.

If that part's not accurate (or true), why should I trust the first part about GOG Galaxy?

Not to mention that on early June, GOG Galaxy was nowhere near being ready, how could Larian think D:OS would launch with GOG Galaxy support?

Matruchus: Hm, you forgot that gog is regionally pricing Divinty: Original Sin :) Its one of the games from Going back to our roots thread that is 100% going to be regionally priced on gog.
full regional pricing.
avatar
srilumpa: You're right. Much as I would like Rincewind81 to be right, there is to my knowledge no more evidence for the lack of regional pricing for D:OS than there is evidence for the Galaxy client being mandatory for it.

avatar
Matruchus: And gog did not stop regional pricing. It only promised to try to get flat prices for games. If they can't get them then it is full regional pricing.
avatar
srilumpa: Not full regional pricing as you get codes back (or maybe store credit if it is ready by August, the two month mentioned in the back to our roots post were elapsed quite a while ago) but not as good as a total lack of regional pricing.
One thing is for sure. The outcry after the regional pricing attempt would be a mild summer wind compared with a mandatory client for this or any other game here. This would be clear DRM. And even Steam is not mandatory for the Steam version, so why should Galaxy be mandatory for the GOG version of Original Sin?
avatar
Luned: Right now, the one thing I know for certain is, Larian and GOG both have a lot of 'splainin' to do over this. The sooner they clear the air, the better off they'll be. :)
Your attachment makes me wonder whether I should send this book to GOG or Larian.
I had no issues to get the game on gog as a kickstarter. In fact the installer started just now and I have been downloading it for some 2 hours. Yeah I got crap internet. :(

Agreed,

I think there's going to be lots of explaining to do tomorrow. Larian says one thing, GOG says another. I don't want to sign up for a Steam 2.0, I'll gladly pay 40 euro right away tomorrow if that means I can get a copy of the game.
One question: Is Larian forcing you guys to hold off on a gog release until Galaxy, or is this purely a gog.com idea?
Sigh, another angry uproar right after a splendid Summer Sale..
GoG please fix this release asap and\or change the way you do these confusing announcements..

The Summer Sale was the calm before the storm.

I've got high hopes for tomorrow, may it be that way :/

I asked for clarification about this mess on GOG in that thread (i.e. delay until the end of August). Let's see what they have to say.
I notice the video on http://www.gog.com/game/divinity_original_sin still bears the 'June 30th' release date... along with GOG branding. Awkward...

Heck, the release date says June 30 on that page.

Well, yes, but lots of classic releases have release dates from before GOG even existed. However, that video was uploaded four days ago, before 30th June actually rolled around.
