Both games set in the World of Aden up to 70% off

Thuderscape and Entomorph: Plague of the Darkfall, two very different classic RPG titles sharing the original setting of the World of Aden, are available bundled on GOG.com with 70% discount. That's only $3.58 for both for the next 24 hours.

In 1995, that is 19 years ago, Strategic Simulations Inc. set out to create a whole new fantastic universe that would become a canvas, on which they would depict epic campaigns and heroic sagas. The legendary developer team decided to take the popular pulp-fantasy tropes, put them through a grinder, mix in some steampunk pizzazz for that special coppery aftertaste, and slap a catchy--and a tad pompous--name on their creation. Thus, the World of Aden came to existence. It never became as popular as some of the fantastic realms of eternal fame, and it only witnessed two heroic campaigns in the end, but it surely deserves its place in the role-play gaming hall of fame. Today, GOG.com invites you for a trip to this amazing forgotten land.

Thunderscape presents you with many time-proven RPG ideas that work together so well, that it's astounding that anyone would want to modify them. You get a party of six brave champions, a large gameworld to explore, lots of items to collect, stats to build, and enemies to slay. While roaming the world, the game progresses in real-time, switching to turn-based combat whenever you approach (or get ambushed by) an opponent. With everything that made dungeon crawlers so successful in the 1990 and some very distinctive steampunk-ish feel, this game is highly recommended to all cRPG fans looking for a challenge!

Entomorph: Plague of the Darkfall is a RPG-ish action-adventure game set in the world of Aden, introduced by Thunderscape. This isn't a sequel though, but a completely stand-alone tale presented by different means. This time we get a top-down view, a single character, and more puzzle and combat-oriented gameplay. With the ability to morph into insect-like beasts to take on your enemies, an intriguing story, and enough in-game content to keep you busy for 40 hours, this classic title deserves to become a part of your collection of PC oldies.

Grab them both for only $3.58, today! You can also get just Thuderscape or Entomorph: Plague of the Darkfall with 60% off discount, that is for $2.39 each. If you already own one of them on GOG.com, you can get the other with the higher discount rate, that's for only $1.79. The Classic Gem Promo offer lasts until Tuesday, January 21, at 10:59AM GMT.
Man... whoever gave negative reviews to Thunderscape deserves eternal shame. Game is a great, solid dungeon crawler with a rockin ost. The best part is the deep PnP-derived character system which has no class-based restrictions (unliked Advanced D&D), so all characters can wear heavy armor, use spells, wield different weapons (even steampunk-styled firearms), and put points into whatever skills they want, you can create any type of character you like (but yeah I'll admit some of it makes no difference considering it's all combat).

Graphics whores just can't get past the very-early 3d environments it seems... though it's not really any worse than TES Arena

damn it. well i guess i have to add entomorph to my backlog. been jonesing for that game since i first arrived here.
Let me copy-paste my small review of Entomorph from the release thread. Perhaps it will help you to make a decision :)

Not the best RPG but a very original one! (rating: 4/5)

Forget about generic medieval-fantasy setting. Forget about elves, dwarfs, goblins and orcs. This time you will face Jagtera - large intelligent insects. You won't find any weapons here neither so you will be fighting either with your spells or with your bare fists or... raptorial forelegs. Yes, I really mean it! There is no XP nor a standard leveling system here. The only way you can become more powerful is by eating a nectar which will slowly turn you into a Jagtera. But that obviously comes with a price - you are slowly loosing your humanity. You can also rely on magic. There are a dozen or so different spells and the most interesting part is that you can and manually adjust how much mana you want to spend on your spell which will obviously affect its power. The game is mostly action oriented but there are some NPC interaction and puzzle parts as well (some of them are really good!). Entomorph is definitely not a perfect game (most fights are just tedious) but if you are tired of standard RPGs and crave for some novelty then it's definitely a game for you. Check it out and see how far you're willing to debase yourself! The game is rather short and can be easily finished within 5-6 hours. It's also worth to mention that the soundtrack is exceptionally good.

JudasIscariot: (we never did forget the manual for Covert Action :P )
Whatever happened to the Strategy Guide for Thunderscape? I thought the new owners of the games were able to get a hard-copy to be scanned or something?

I have no idea, really. Something could have come up, maybe?
Awesome! I was waiting for both games to go on sale - instabuy. :)
I highly recommend Entomorph, folks! Here's a link to me gushing about it in one of my recent giveaways. At this price, it's worth it for the wonderfully weird soundtrack alone.

(Speaking of which - GOG, any progress on getting the in-game music unscrambled?)
They are medium to good games and for that price a real steal. Unfortunately I lack the time for playing... :(
Nah, too many games to play from December, even if it is a good deal...

The soundtrack is amazing! I still play the tracks from the original CD I got with my boxed copy way back.
(CD-Audio + CD player = Instant Soundtrack CD!) XD

I'd recommend giving a listen to Track #10 , it is especially memorable. (imo)

Edit:
Sorry by track #10 I mean Track #09 in the GOG release of the soundtrack.
(It's Track 10 on the original CD since track 1 is the game data track.)

I'm also curious about if the in-game music problem has been patched yet.
