pingu53: If it sucks, who cares we've got the original games
If its good, its good

everyone wins here no one loses
I think this is a good attitude to take. Might as well just wait and see how it turns out.

Tychoxi: I see! "Overhaul Games" huh? Run by ex BioWare people? My expectations just went up a few points.

Fred_DM: Trent Oster. i think all the other key Bioware/Black Isle people are still with Bioware and Obsidian.
Doesnt look like he was a key or part of the core team that made the BG series tho (check resume on linked in).Looks like he is more a director/animator.Not one of the writers.
Links to Bioware and core team are very tenuous at best :/. Im having severe doubts about an 'new' stuff they decide to add.
I hope, they will add more than just revive the old content.
Otherwise the GoG version + widescreen mod does pretty much their job already.
Adding GemRB to the brew, would mean even more platforms covered than their promise ever did.

Also, anyone expecting a 3d game is totally misinformed. Converting these pieces of art into 3d would remove most of their worth. This is a computer version of tabletop game.
here on Brazil, some friends of mine thought it was going to be Dragon Age or a The Witcher knock off.but it looks like it will be isometric, and will use the 2nd edition rules instead of the 4th edition like I was thinking.
and I'll like to have an option to play it on the original graphics.

Lawl, BG3 by Beamdog... right ...., sounds like marketing to get more people to buy Enhanced.
the main problem is graphics whores that will go on BG1 and 2 gameplay videos and say"DIS GAYME SUXXXXX LUK AT TEH GRAPHIX!!!!!11"just look at Fallout, after Fallout 3 came out every gameplay video of FO 1 and 2 just keeps getting bombarded with graphics whores.

Uh.

Uh.

http://www.baldursgate.com/news/2012/03/21/baldurs-gate-enhanced-edition-for-ipad-3/

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh...
The fact they posted that up tell me, the aim of this reskin job is to get into out while the iPad craze is the in thing right now. Cynic in me says quick cash grab.
"and never before seen content including a new adventure and new party member." === original left out content reintegrated ??.
Well they did say that they "weren't aiming at controllers" for BG3. They didn't say WHAT they were aiming at, of course, but "tablets and phones" was the obvious answer. This just confirms it. Personally I'm not going to be holding my breath on this one. I can just keep playing BG2 until all of my various backups die.
I'm concerned about the size of the screen..in the ipad picture, the frame that the blue-ish icons are in, down the left hand side that's behind the drinks screen , that's the actual play area, it goes from the icons to the potrait in the top right that should be the full size of the screen .. I was hoping for a larger screen area, not a smaller one.

And yeah, the fact that the only info is an ipad advert does scream cash grab... I'm decidedly cold on this.
The shots thus far are 'work in progress' and mockups, they've still said they're majorly revising the UI for the iPad.

Not that I think it's something that'll really be that good for an iPad overall - the average user of such things wouldn't commit hundreds of hours to such an indepth game, they want something simple they can just play for a few minutes here and there.
The ipad shots are underwhelming, especially since they don't show anything different. I'll be more interested when they put up screenshots of something that's been actually 'enhanced'.
I don't know what the resolution is on the ipad to make any judgements on what this would mean for a desktop version.
As it is I'll keep checking back when they make announcements but I'm still perfectly happy with my gog versions + the mods. I'm glad they're trying to make the enhanced version compatible with current mods but I can't see myself buying this for and extra NPC or 2 and some content (I haven't even checked out Unfinished Business mod yet so there's plenty there for me).

In the end, for me, it'll boil down to a combination of the perceived quality of the new content (whether it's just extra quests or if they've actually added a few more alternative paths for evil and neutral players), whether they've upped the resolution (not just like adding a widescreen mod but actually re-rendering the backgrounds and portraits (but if they have to do new portraits for that then I'll be less excited) and then comparing what it offers with the price.

Early days yet and they've got a bit of time before they put the release date back because it's not ready ;)

I don't think it will have new graphics. They may improve the graphics for a bit though.

is that for the new ipad (3 but not called 3)? It just says 'iPad' - if so then it might not be the one in the screenshot - at 2048x1536 it looks like the graphics must have been up-res'd as the characters still look big.

hmmm ... I need more caffeine
