Have you ever had some jerk carelessly spoil secret bits in any form of entertainment? I remember when I was all excited to read "Half-Blood Prince", when my cousin told me how much of a bummer it was when ______ ______ _______. I was pretty steamed about it, but I didn't say anything about it in front of him.
Not especially, although I think I may have been quite lucky over the years :-)

I have, however, had many things ruined for me by badly written reviews. Empire is absolutely abysmal for this, and I've stopped reading their reviews entirely as a result.

"Hey, Empire reviewer guy! Funnily enough I don't want to know the punchline to a joke! Nor do I want a detailed description of a particularly shocking scene! And I don't want to know what the bad guys are after unless it's shown in the god damn trailer"

Grrr. I think I'll stop before I really get going...
Is this a good time to point out Bruce Willis is a ghost? :p

Yeah they can be annoying I once knew a guy who found it impossible to keep his mouth shut. He would often go to movies as soon as they were out sometimes even going alone then would get on the phone to everyone and spoil it.

This. :D

I actually knew before witnessing it myself. :( (still liked it though)
In recent memory, I was reading reviews of Drag Me To Hell before the movie was out in theatres, and one of them blurted out the ending mid-paragraph. WTF is that?

Incidentally, I appreciate that the GOG forums are nice and streamlined, but I do think show/hide spoiler tags would be nice.

I think most of us have done our best to alert people to spoilers contained within threads. Some times they are unavoidable but we do our best with the usual *spoilers* highlight.

This is the thing. If a film/book/game is no longer good because you know what happens then it wasn't all that good to begin with. All those mediums are about the presentation, not about what happened but how and why.
Also, Roger Ebert ruined a big surprise in Super in the first paragraph. What the fuck, Ebert? I'm usually a fan of the old man's reviews, but it made me consider never visiting his site again.

Yes, but some people want the surprise.

Sure, but I do love those show/hide tags so very much. :p

Yeah but with M Night Shyamalan he very much was a one trick pony and why he hasn't done anything in years. People expected a twist in all his movies and some, like Unbreakable were bloody obvious right from the start. Telling someone about Brucie or Sam Jacksons character in Unbreakable really does mean you don't have to watch it.
Star Trek Nemesis. I was aware someone important was going to die but then saw a review that flatout said They Killed _____ . Damn. So then I kind of knew the ending. It didn't completely ruin it since the movie wasn't all that great to begin with but it would have been nice to get the shock factor the first time around.

Yeah but he's not dead really so in truth it was a cop out. It didn't really spoil the movie. Same could be said about X-Men 3. Yes they killed off _______ but then right at the end... they didn't.

Same thing happened to me. This is why I just stopped reading the books. ALso just now I was talking to a friend about DA:O and another friend spoiled us the ending.
Perhaps a quick solution is to ROT13 any spoilers?
All the time with movies. That's the problem of being in a country where a movie could be released up to several years after everyone else =S I just get used to it these days. It's either that or never use the Internet/talk to anyone ever again.
