Teremei: Ive copied 2 games (please understand I didn't pirate these games I just named a quick short temp name to test)

torins passage is in sdcard/warez/torin

when I first start dosbox turbo sdcard is automatically mounted so I just cd to warez and then cd to torin then run torin.exe. I got this game cannot be run from dos mode.

When I do King's Quest 7 there is an additional kq7 folder in the kq7 folder so I cd to that and run sierra.exe. I get the cannot find 999.pal resource file. Yes I bought these games here at gog and just copied the entire torin folder to my nexus 7. I assume I did it correctly. So what is the 999.pal problem and how is it fixed so I can play these games on my nexus 7 tablet? Would absolutely prefer to play these gems while at work.

Alfie3000: did you mount the disc image files first?

example

imgmount D C:/warez/torin/torin.dat -t iso

or however you set it up. Look a GOG's dosbox config and copy that. You should be trying to imgmount the ".dat" , ".inst" or ".gog" files the first two are renamed .cue's the other is a renamed .bin

However, me and another GOG user have found a problem with Dosbox Turbo and games from GOG. It doesn't mount the games what have the music ripped into music files instead of being part of the disc image.
That is too advanced for me. I like to understand what I am doing an that is a bit over my head.

I'll try my best to explain things then :D

(I don't have Torin's Passage so I'm not sure on the file names)

1) First thing you want to do on your computer is browse to where Torin's Passage is installed.
2) Find the dosbox config file (Should be called something like "dosboxconfigtorin.conf")
3) Open it up in notepad and scroll all the way to the bottom.
3) You should see a section called [autoexec]
4) Load up Dosbox Turbo on your Nexus 7
5) Type into Dosbox Turbo the commands found under [autoexec]. You generally want to copy everything from the imgmount line and below.

**EXAMPLE of what I type for LBA on my phone**

imgmount d c:\dos\lba\LBA.DAT -t iso
c:
cd dos
cd lba
mixer cdaudio 50:50
RELENT.EXE

6) If it works you can make a shortcut in the Dosbox Turbo manager so you don't have to type anything again. If it doesn't work come back here for more help :D

As he said, look at GOG installation's .conf file, especially the [autoexec] section, make the respective changes in the DosBox Turbo dosbox.conf, accounting for differences in directory structure.
I will try these, thanks. If it doesn't work I will just have to wait until scummvm adds the games I want to play.
Alfie3000, thanks for the mention of DosBox Turbo. I don't have a Nexus 7 yet, and when I do I'm not sure I'll immediately want to play DOS games on it (probably ScummVM and GemRB ones first), but it's good to know that there's a version of DosBox for Android that's fast and actively developed.
I'm interested in a few of these posts talking about windows 8. Honestly I have no clue the difference between x86 and RT. If I want to buy a microsoft tablet with GOG games the top priority. What should I be looking for? And really how likely is it that a majority of gog games would work on a surface anyway?
RT currently wont be compatible with any gog games at all as it cant run desktop legacy applications and only stuff in the microsoft app store. There isn't even a port of dosbox on microsoft store yet so you wont even be able to run dosbox gog games on it. So the microsoft surface is out the question.

A tablet with full windows 8 like the surface pro should run pretty much anything on gog however as thats basicly a small touch screen laptop. The only things you wont be able to run are high spec games like Alan wake and Witcher 2 as they wont have the horse power. An android tablet like the google nexus or the asus transformer pad will be able to run all gog dos games pretty much using dosbox turbo which is a few pounds but totally worth it. very fast port and constantly updating, Also all games on gog that use scummvm also.

so in summary for gog games... Rt device - no way.
Android device if you just want to play really old dos games on it.
A full windows tablet if you want to play dos and slightly newer windows games on it.

Tablets are for casual "apps", gaming stuff needs a PC. Buy one and sell your touchy-touchy toy if you want to play real games :-P
PC's are for productivity "software", gaming stuff needs a dedicate console.

Yes. Just trying to convey how stupid this kind of statement is.

My real opinion is that PC's provides the most flexible gaming experience, even though consoles and tablets do have things they are better at when it comes to gaming. But tablets are a close second, are more flexible than consoles, and they have the mobile advantage. There are quite a few hardcore gaming experiences for tablets and there will be more with time.

That, actually worked! I don't know how but it worked! Mine said
[autoexec]
# Lines in this section will be run at startup.
mount C .
c:
cls
SIERRAH.exe
cls
exit

What I did was first cd to dosbox/torin then typed cls (return) sierrah.exe return) and the program started. God I feel stupid sierrah.exe was in my folder when I dir'd but I never tried it.

For space quest 6 I went into a subfolder that had the game exe's
[autoexec]
# Lines in this section will be run at startup.
mount C .
c:
cls
sierra -o .\resource.cfg
exit

Typed what I had to and it started the game, but it crashed with a message about not enough movable memory. I guess the nexus 7 just doesn't have the power to run it. As it stands you've helped a great bit and atleast now I can try to find some games to run on it. Thanks so much!

Did you try changing the amount of memory Dosbox Turbo uses? Mobygames says Space Quest 6 needs at least 8mb of ram and by default Dosbox Turbo is set to 4mb of ram. In Dosbox Turbo hit config, then Dosbox Settings, then Memory Size and set it to 8mb. If you used the Dosbox Manager to set it up right click on your shelf icon (Two fingers) then hit edit config --> Dosbox settings --> Memory size.

Hope this helps!!
You think tablets are better for hardcore gaming than a console?!? Really?

I'm getting there. with space quest 6 from gog it's kinda wierd the exe isn't in the first folder, it's in a subfolder called sq6 that's where the config file is. Do I have to move some of the folders around? cnfig says sierraw is the exe but dosbox turbo says it can't be run in dos mode. here's the complete resource text.
