At first I was a little confused as to all these farewells, but I think I'm starting to get the hint. I myself have also slowed my gaming way down as I've gotten older, and as some have mentioned, this network/cloud/DRM stuff is just really antithetical to many of us... so we're just moving on. For those reasons, I totally agree. Time has passed, the original games we 80s and 90s kids grew up on are now a whole generation in the past. Doom? That game is 20 years old now. The SNES and SEGA Genesis? Going on 25 years old. The Atari and Commodore? Don't even start counting. You'll cry.
Believe it or not, a lot of gamers actually have jobs, and wives, and a few even have kids. So I guess in a way, in ones and twos, we're all growing up. It's a sad thing to think about... even worse considering that there's no retirement pension for gamers. When I see kids hacking their WiiU, or hopping all over their living rooms via Kinect, I know my days are numbered. Oculus? The idea of millions of 12 year old Lawnmower man kids bumping into things with VR helmets on frankly makes me laugh. We all have our day in the sun, and the 8-64 bit generation is seeing its sun setting. *Sniff sniff*
