I would really love to get my hands on a real Amiga. Here in Japan at one point there were some 500 and 2000 systems on yahoo auction. But of course the owners wanted way too much money to win their systems. Plus I was really strapped for cash then too. Though if I could find it around 100 to 200 dollars I would buy it in a heart beat.
I too was looking at the free version emu for the Amiga as well as Amiga Forever. Though I have to admit, it is a little much for me to understand how it really works. Will have to dig in deeper in reading to get a better understanding.

Thanks! That's what I was looking for. I've got to be honest though. That is lacking pretty much every game I can think of which would make that pack a must have. Maybe Pack 2 is where it's at?

I'm still looking for it. But I'm sure I will have better chance reading Amiga-fan forums to find that info. Instead of wasting my time digging on Amiga-Forever website to find such a basic content.

I've been using Amiga Forever for 7 years, and I recommend it to anyone who's interested in / has nostalgia for the Amiga. It's a complete package (provided you get the Plus edition), easy to use even for newcomers and (in my opinion) absolutely worth every penny. Cloanto's customer support is excellent as well, so if you can't figure out how to make something work, you can get quick assistance from them.

I had a wee trip down memory lane just the other night with my copy of WinUAE that I've had for years. ROM's ripped from my A4000 (still in the attic I think).
A4000 running at 1600x1200x32bit with Picasso - with the bunch of tweaks like MUI - still holds it own.
Ran through seeing which games I could still get to work - answer: most of them - if only I could find the manuals for the copy-protection.
Skid Marks, Cannon Fodder, Frontier, Chaos Engine, Lemmings, ...

If it hasn't been said, don't forget that Cloanto got a few of Commodore's former engineers to fine-tune the WinUAE configurations. And the Plus editions have all the neat extras (of course, they've probably been "redistributed" as soon as they were first released). Current customers also get the chance at grabbing some exclusives like the "Walker" prototype Workbench, which was released for a limited time. But then again, I've no doubt that it was quickly pirated as soon as one or more less-scrupulous legitimate owners got ahold of it.

I was lucky the other day. A friend of mine has the 2008 version of Amiga Forever and until I told him about this thread I didn't know he had it. So he gave me his disc as he has upgraded some time ago for me to tinker around with. Going to see if I can install this raw to a hard drive instead of running it through Windows.
Has anybody tried this? My friend only has used this as a Win installed option. So we're both curious about this.
Saving my coins now for not only GOG games but for Amiga Forever, too. Granted I have the 2008 disc from my friend but I rather buy the latest version and help support this great work.

The Amiga Forever discs do feature a Knoppix-based boot option, where you can boot straight into a Workbench environment. At least the older ones (around 2005) did. I haven't tried it lately with the newer ones.

There is a live CD you can do. I wanted to see how it would be installed on HD.

I've bought two versions of Amiga Forever (one for my computer, and one for my girlfriends computer - though she will probably not use it much) and one version of C64 Forever. Using the original joysticks it's not far off playing the real thing (I still have a couple of A500s, as well as a CD32).

AmigaKit.com has a bunch of new and used Amiga parts, as well as PC peripherals that go great with emulated Workbench environments. They also have a tonne of back issues of Amiga magazines.
Speaking of, I think Software Hut (a major ad-space buyer in Amiga Computing magazine) is still up and running. I think they're mostly a "trading post" now for used Amiga hardware, but last I checked, they have some unused NewTek stuff.
