Lucas moved up a couple paces north, trying to make sure to not get caught. He wasn't worried about Phil. He was good at being sneaking; Lucas not so much.

Ok just give me a couple minutes, I need to update the map.

It's OK, no problem!!

OOC: MAP UPDATED

To your west you hear the din of clashing swords and of men screaming. You are on a road that leads through the residential district of the old town.

To your east you hear the sound of chanting Monks.

Remaining turns:
Vir: move up to 2/act
Phil: move up to 3/act
Arkades: move up to 2/act
Lucas: move up to 2/act (counted last moves as a single turn so you have a turn again)

OOC: This probably isn't very important, but is there a reason you imagine us all in long dresses and beards? :D

I would like to make an understanding/listening check based on Arkades' clerical knowledge to see if he can recognize the sect or nature of the chants, counting this as my turn:

Arkades raised one hand to his ear and listened carefully, deep in thought. "I think...I might be best suited to dealing with these monks we hear. Shall we split up, or travel together? These unknown priests may be hostile."
Lucas moved west (1x West), and investigated the screaming and sword fighting.

Just those guys, not necessarily you. Unless you're part of... the monkey cult (WTF?)

Sorry, no can do. You haven't heard the chants. You're too far away to hear them. Do something else?
Taking a glance at the children behind him, Vir stalked to the edge of the slums (north 1, F4). Standing within the shade of a broken down wooden hut, he looked northwest, in the direction of the sounds of probable battle.

OOC: Wait, sorry, I'm terribly confused - didn't you just say we COULD hear them chanting?

OOC: It's ok. No, just Lucas and Phil. (Check the map for the spot that says "3 robed figures" - that's where it's coming from. Lucas and Phil are both too far away to communicate this information to you.)
"The thing about robed men," thought Phil, "is that you never know what they are capable of."

For the time being he wasn't too keen on figuring it out, though. No point in ruining any chance they might have of catching the monkey worshippers unaware. Keeping hidden and silent he waited until they'd passed him. Keeping his distance he followed them as quiet as he could.

OOC: Don't know where we're going, but I doubt they'll move more than three spaces so I should be able to keep up. My action this turn should probably be the hiding&waiting for them to pass part.

The action is intense. You watch from behind a broken piece of wall, as barbaric looking men with large axes and broadswords do battle with a group of robed men. The men in robes are channeling divine energy.

For a second you actually think you hear the sound of.... a monkey? No way!

The sound intensifies. You catch a glimpse of the battle here and there, but cannot learn much from what you are watching.

However, you feel disturbed by the mental energy in the area. There is a profound sense of hatred. Whoever these combatants are, you sense that they will not cease fighting.

It looks like Arkades has gone offline, so I will move Arkades closer to the action (and the chanting, which he now hears.)

OOC: MAP UPDATED

New turns:
Vir - up to 3 spaces and act (conserved energy last turn)
Lucas - up to 3 spaces and act
Arkades - up to 2 spaces and act
Phil - up to 2 spaces and act

stoicsentry: Two of them seem to cover over the third, who trails behind. They appear to be guarding him/her.
OOC: As in protecting, or making sure he/she doesn't run away?

pH7: OOC: As in protecting, or making sure he/she doesn't run away?
OOC: It appears that the two do not want the third to be seen. More along the lines of protecting and shielding rather than preventing an escape.

As they pass by, you got a good look: there is nothing on the third's wrists to bind them, as you would suspect if they were a prisoner. The third might be some type of leader.

They have their backs turned to you now. You can probably sneak attack them. (If you wanted to.)

A messenger on horseback from the guild delivers you this note:

"Outskirts and land to the west of town quiet and secured. We should be able to plant our base here so long as you can secure the rest of the town. If alone, please inform others."

Before you can get a word in, the messenger is gone.

[This does not count as your turn, you can still use your turn.]
