Yeah you read that right. Press release here and the BBC are going for the cheapest possible option again by hiring Three Rings who developed Puzzle Pirates.

I suppose we should expect poor graphics and acting just like the shoddy adventure games but with more people... words fail me.

So wobbly sets and monsters who clearly can't act? Who would have believed such a thing of Doctor Who?

(Yeah, I am a fan)

Oh god. The 'adventure game' was bad enough...

On further reading, it seems it's just going to be a crappy flash game. Somehow the idea of a crappy licensed flash game is more tolerable than the idea of a crappy licensed downloadable game.

Oh noes !

Really liked the Dr. Who series back in the day.

Character development shouldn't be too hard . . . =)

Yeah, I was just like... really?

I wish they would hire a talented adventure game maker and get it over with.
This is so funny. I am amazed.
What's next? Days of Our Lives MMO?
ugh, seems they've learned the activision style of brand utilisation

I thought they had made a sims mmo
Words can't describe how hard I'm laughing at the people who will actually play this.

They had a sims online, but I think it failed. Just like 75% of all MMOs do, along with this one.

Edit: Oh I get it. aha.

really interesting... absolutely no idea how this shall work. Timetraveling in an MMO?

I am waiting for a "I am Legend" MMO... :)
I'm still waiting for my "Malcom in the middle" MMO

Yup, Then they rebranded it "EA World", then that failed twice as hard.
Listen BBC, you don’t need to do this. We’ll still think you and Dr Who are cool without a stupid awful game. I know the games industry is pretty big but you don’t actually have to be a part of it. For the children BBC, don’t go through with this for the children. Even just for going through the trouble of existing they deserve better than what this game could ever deliver.
Oh who cares... its a Facebook game, and only Forbes magazine cares that Dr. Who is the BBC's "flagship brand" (and it isn't... BBC News is).

Let them make a casual game to promote the show and drive eyeballs to their online content. They aren't hurting anybody. And let Forbes write about it. Do you know why Forbes writes about social networking games with TV show tie-ins? Because the trailer for Bulletstorm made their blue blood Ivy League writers shit their collective pants with fear.

What would actually be cool is if someone were to develop an MMO based on Dr. Who. From what I can tell, nothing like that is actually happening.
