I've been waiting for a while for Divinity: Original Sin to be discounted. It finally is, but only 20%. Should I get it now, or is it likely to get a bigger discount in an upcoming flash sale?

Maybe it will. Steam currently sells it with a 33% discount. I doubt it will get a higher discount this year, though.

I'm tempted to buy Raiden. Partly to get it off my wishlist, and partly to stop this song in my head.

My only concern is whether the 20% will hold for the duration of the sale while I wait for a bigger discount.

It should. Typically the base discounts last the entire sale. It's just the Flash and Bundle prices which are for shorter periods.

CarrionCrow: See anything good that's caught your eye? Looking for items I might've not noticed the first time around on the flash sale.

katya_stevens: Sorry, got called away to help make dinner :)

So far it's just been Xenonauts and Trails in the Sky that have been purchases for me on the flash sales. I've seen a few other games floating around that I already have that I'd recommend to people if the genre's their kind of thing (like Long Live The Queen for VN fans, Banished for city builders, Terraria for people who like to mine+craft, OlliOlli to those who'd like skateboarding games). I'm also seeing a few filter by that are marked as 'owned' that I've yet to even download, let alone play (and I'll leave those names to the side).

I've been nosy on MIND: Path to Thalamus and Wasteland 2 -- MIND is one of those games I'm keeping an eye on, while Wasteland 2 is, well...I've got a large enough backlog to be able to wait until its price drops, and I've certainly got more than enough RPGs to keep me company.

There's also Dreamfall Chapters -- same problem as Wasteland 2, plus my mind necessitates that I play games in order, and despite owning disc versions of The Longest Journey and Dreamfall, I'm still working my way through TLJ. (TLJ does work on my netbook though, so I'm hoping with the free time over the holiday season I can make some real headway on it.)

The same also hold true for Divinity: Original Sin, though this one isn't in the flash sales (yet?). I got a bundle a while back that had all the Divinity games up to Dragon Commander, and Age of Wonders 1, Shadow Magic, and 2. Needing to play through those has been excessively good at making sure I don't buy the new ones before I've played the old ones.

Aside from that, well. I'm hoping that there might be a Prince of Persia bundle, and I'll be mightily tempted by a Spiderworks bundle even though I know I shouldn't touch it until I've played some of the Geneforge games.
On the fence about Mind as well. Trying to keep an eye on whatever bundles will be coming, but it's a possibility. Also hoping for a Prince of Persia bundle at some point. They've been on my wishlist too long.

Yes. That base 20% should in all likelyhood hold until the end of the sale, so you should be safe to wait it out until then.

There's something about MIND which isn't quite...me, if that makes any sense. It's a game that at the right price I feel like I'd enjoy, but I don't know what the 'right price' is.

I'm happy to buy the rest of the Prince of Persia games at 50% off, if I play the first and enjoy it. A bundle at 70% or more off will mean I'll hit 'buy' on the remaining two with no regrets (see: the STALKER bundle on day one).

I can recommend MIND: Path to Thalamus. I quite enjoyed it, in spite of some overwrought narration and vexing puzzles. The beauty and otherness of the game make it all worthwhile. I'm hoping it loops back through, as I want to get gift keys for it.

I can recommend those as well, and hope they offer that bundle here. In my opinion the first of the trilogy is the best, but all are worth your time. They play best with a controller, however.

Actually, that makes quite a bit of sense. If I was in blind acquisition mode, I'd have grabbed it already (for no particular reason other than "just because"). But I'm not sure about it.

It's not a flash sale discount, so it will most likely stay.
Superfrog! Nice to occasionally see one that I don't have that comes through with only a single-digit price. Bought. :)
Right, a thousand thanks, people for your comments, points of view and opinions!

Kronos and Dragon Commander are now snuggling contentedly in the nest with all of my other games!

Fireworks, fanfare, visiting dignitaries, the works!

Don't you love it when there are some new arrivals, all cute and dribbly and wanting love and attention?

Xenonauts, The Last Federation and Eador - Masters of the Broken World will be thought on a while longer before they either join the rest or stay with their current families.

Can I also add that the people here are pretty darn great?

I'd actually had no idea it was available here until people started talking about it. I think I'm gonna take a bit of time to double-check that it is a game I'd enjoy.

The STALKER games appearing in a bundle gives me some hope that the Prince of Persia games might also be bundled at some point. Noted on the controller -- I've got one already to hand so it's not an extra purchase I'd need t make :)
Gray Matter - Tesla Effect - Cognition
3 flawed adventure games that tempt me with their discounted price..
Anyway, what's the best one?

Ohh, yes! That would be awesome, and then you could tell me how good they are! lol~

phaolo: Gray Matter - Tesla Effect - Cognition
Cognition is fantastic! Gray Matter is very slow-paced; I've had trouble getting in to it. Tesla I've played because I've never played a Tex Murphy game, and don't even own the others yet! ^_^;
