So automatic updates are the main positive of Steam?

There was a time in days gone by that update systems were actually written into the game by the developer instead of them relying on some 3rd party DRM/client to provide the service. Sure, you have to hiy the 'Check for Updates' button every now and again, but it's on your own terms snd at a time that's convenient to you.

There's only one thing more annoying than firing up a game for a quick blast and having to wait for updates to download and install because you don't have the choice of bypassing them - it's when the updates aren't even for the game, but the 3rd party client that it NEEDS to run!

An extra AMEN to this. I really hate firing up the Xbox to watch a movie and instead being forced to first install some gigantic system update, with no option to postpone it.

Looking at the topic subject for this thread, it's interesting how the focus has apparently "shifted to the left" from "Summer Sale" to "DRM-Free".

Hey, maybe a couple of hundred messages later, the focus will shift to "2014" :D

It's not, but it has the appearance of being simpler, which is all that matters. If people think something is a simpler or more convenient process (even if the reality is there's little to no difference), they'll opt for that more often than not.

Guys do you think there is any chance that first Witcher will be on flash sale this time ?

I really want a copy, since my box got borrowed and I cant recall who took it. I also bought some tools lately and I am more less broke, so hope to get it as cheaply as possible.

Almost zero chance of a Flash sale for The Witcher.

I've seen some people still have keys in the trading thread and they might be willing to trade for something cheaper since it was given for free.

Unfortunately for you, the only "surprise" flash deals that may still come are:
- Banished
- Omerta: City of Gangsters Gold Edition
- Outlast: Whistleblower DLC

TW1 is not part of the flash deals sale. Only way for you to get it really-really cheap is for GOG to surprise us on the last day of the Summer Sale, but there're no hints to support its likeliness.

Unfortunately I'm out of keys. There has been a huge deal where any game you bought, you got a key free. Someone may have one lying around somewhere collecting dust. :)

Update: I got a free key from expopower - thank you a lot !

As I already spoke bout trade with Klumpen0815 I decide to gift him Lionheart as we agreed, he was so kind to repay me with key for Solar 2.

If anyone do have spare Witcher key please let me know and we try to make a fair deal :)
