Together, we celebrated DRM-free gaming and it was awesome!

Our 2013 #NoDRM Summer Sale has come to an end. For over two weeks we offered you most games in our catalog for half their usual price, as well as thematic bundles and special deals with up to 85% discounts. We were also able to give out the excellent action-RPG Torchlight for free. We're happy to say, that 2,5 million free games were added to collections of users registered with GOG.com--veterans and newcomers alike. We're glad we could bring so much DRM-free joy to so many people! We've got you to thank for that, as your tweets, re-posts, and word of mouth made it possible for us to reach that many gamers.

Our Longest Day of Gaming super-sale proved to be the biggest in all of GOG.com history. Over the course of our Summer Sale a lot of people found out about GOG.com and discovered that DRM isn't the default in the gaming industry, and that there's very much gamers can do to affect how the market functions. In the middle of our discount extravaganza the #NoDRM movement noted a huge victory in the console parts of gaming world. We're not taking any credit for that, of course, but we're glad to see more and more gamers becoming aware of the risks of unreasonable DRM policies and demanding control over their games. We like to think, that our core values--DRM-free gaming, customer love, and free bonus content--are beginning to spread across the world of gaming. Again, you are the force that drives this progress. So, as we're thanking you for participating in our promotions, we would also like to say this: Gamers of the world, we salute you!

We hope you enjoyed our 2013 #NoDRM Summer Sale and that the games you got off it will keep you entertained for many, many hours!

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to service downtime with one of our payment processing providers some of you couldn't complete your purchases on Monday, July 1st (between 7:46PM GMT and 9:18PM GMT). This was a worldwide issue affecting not only GOG.com users. The problem wasn't caused nor could it be fixed by us, but we're concerned with the fact that some of our customers missed out on our Monday offers.

We think that's unfair, so if you were one of those people, please contact our support. If your purchase failed during that time and your funds were frozen on your account, we will send you some free game codes to make up for your inconvenience.

The sale was awesome, GOG! Thank you!
Thank You GoG.com...
Thank you GoG.com for all this awesome DRM-free games
Yup, got a few games during the sale, thanks, gog!
Congratulations GOG, and thanks for letting us reacquire many of the games that made us computer gamers in the first place. Looking forward to the next big sale!
This massive Sale was much better than XMas one, I bought a few games including The Cat Lady and I'm having a blast with this one! BTW: Witcher 2 with the new mod - Full Combat Rebalance mod 2 by FLASH is such a fantastic thing - I bought that game a year and half ago, but because I'm slow gamer (love TBS ...) I couldn't finish this game until now! I'm going to preorder Witcher 3 as soon as possible!! BTW: please bring more games from Steam - like Walking Dead, XCOM, Fallout New Vegas, etc., because I don't want to buy any ame over there at all!! You are No.1!!!!!
Certainly GOG's best seasonal sale to date.

I'd certainly be interested to know how all this worked out commercially for GOG. The summer sale ended up being heavily publicised in the media, so I'm curious if the sales did end up bringing GOG a lot of new customers (there's certainly a lot of "Joined: Jun 2013" here at the moment), and how many of those 2.5 million Torchlight "check-outers" were from existing accounts, as well as how many of the new accounts were converted into paying customers.

One thing I've found interesting of late is how many people didn't even know that GOG existed - I've had a few personal acquaintances ask me about it after seeing it in the news. I'm not sure how many ended up actually buying games, but I know of a few who were scared off by the site only being in English.
This sale was the reason I found this awesome site.
Biggest thanks for such a great collection of old games and for such great deals!
Keep up the good work.
Just don't make them too frequent or everyone will want them ALL THE TIME!

The DRM free revolution needs for yourselves and the game devs to make decent money! Your in a battle of attrition with all those that seek to enslave games and gamers in DRM.

Glad so many took advantage and maybe got games they would not otherwise, and i hope the volume of sales covered the crazy price reductions :)
The sale was a bit boring for me. I already owned all games in which I'm interested in. I only bought the new release Magrunner and preordered Rise of the Triad which were not in sale. So I hope next week there will be some good releases.
Soo how much did you sell ;)?
Flawless victory GOG!

jamyskis: but I know of a few who were scared off by the site only being in English.
Actually, this is very good suggestion for GOG - it should be easy to translate whole GOG but forums to German, French and Spanish.
No, thank YOU.

I had to leave some games for another sale.

It was a pleasure to play Syndicate Wars again (and many more I've bought...)
Very glad that the sale was a success. I was very happy myself to buy a few games and bundles (great idea reducing the price for already owned games, made me buy trice the number of different bundles I would have otherwise). Keep it up, it's awesome seeing a pure DRM-free site having such success.
